Guvernment = Terrible Ownership??

alright, I whent to Ferry Corsten last night, got there early only payed $10.00.. 2:30 rolls around Ferry Corsten of course pleasing the crowed... However i didn't have fun at all.. It was by far the worst club/party i have ever been too.. Ferry was great... The place was packed beyond belief not only was there no room to dance, there was no room to stand, i get knocked around every 2 mins, ellbows flying in my face from people trying to dance or get through.. Guvernments Capacity is 1500 people they must have let in between 2000 and 2500 people.. it was absolutely disgusting.. I had to leave at 3:00 not cause i got bored or the music got bad, but because there was no room to even stand.. As i walked out i asked the guy at the door how many people were in there all he could say was " too many " so i asked again " How many people are inside? " he says " Alot!" .. They ran out of room in the coach check and they were still jamming people into the club.. Now, it doesn't seem like greed that they kept letting people in there cause they were only charging $10.00 right?? I would have been willing to pay $25.00 easy.. if they made it a ticketed event and made a capacity limit.. ohh but its spin saturday right, and can't dissapoint the regulars?? So make it a " super saturday " hand out flyers the week before saying you gotta buy tix in advance at $25.00.. Or!! if they just wanted to let people in for $10.00/$15.00 all night, then friggin throw it in the Kool Haus that place maxes out 4000 people.. I have never been so dissapointed with a company in my life.. I am a customer and they treated me like absolute shit.. I really wanted to go see Scott Bond, i've never seen him before, and i'd love to see armin again, but, unless its gonna be a ticket event with a cap limit i don't think i will go.. i would be perfectly willing to pay that extra $15.00 - $20.00 if they made a limit so it would be comfortable, this is DANCE music and when there isn't even room to stand without getting knocked around, how the hell am i supposed to enjoy myself???? Enough of my ranting..

Does anyone feel the same way as myself, cause Ferry was great no complaints, but guvernment dissapointed me alot..
Some peoples input would be appreciated ..

all clubs in general are like that
they just want $$$
i dont think you should single out just guv cause all clubs do it

lol

ive seen alot of bitching about guv on this board!
it just sounds like mosy of you cant handle a superclub experience! you think its not like that in other hot spots around the world? twilo was even smaller and theyd cram in as many people as guv does on a sat night for their parties
whatever, if you cant handle it plain and simply DONT GO!
more room for me and everyone else there!
they wont change their ways nor will other clubs in the city
theyll fit in as many people as they possibly can!
i know that sucks but if you go then be prepared to deal with something like that!

I don't think we can single out guv......but tis true.....i don't think it's fair to say that superclub experiences are or should be like that......
one cannot dance......whats the point?
n e ways.....
I think it just boils down to the fact that we need a big club.....cause superclubs......should be super big aswell.....guv's main room aint that big.....and not really designed logically to support many people and their coats.....I mean what year is it? why can't things be done properly.......etc...i think it's not even an issue of money...cause things can! be done efficiently without having to spend that much more.

did anyone notice the sound system...........being a little off last night...or was it just me.......
it seemed way louder in parts of the room than others.....and (i'm not talking about being right next to the speaker)...isn't it normally more balanced?
I hate to say it....but I'm feeling like I need to start wearing plugs.....cause fuk.....my ears are fukt today.

anyways....

anyone know when tiesto is coming?

peace

room to dance

Hey everyone whats up? people keep saying there is no room to dance and shit at guv well i have to totally agree with that especially when i went to the Smirnoff Experience i had a good time but waaaaaaaay too many people and i got burnt in the back of my ear from some assholes cigarette wtf? anyways on a positive note when i went to Sonic State at Docks i was blown away at the complete organization of these promoters, and free fruit how sweet is that, but the best thing about that night besides the dj's and music was i have never had more room to dance than anywhere else i have been, i dont recall bumping into one person it was that spaced out and the vibe that night was pure heaven cuz they were there for the music not to be seen like the guv ginos, therefore fellow TA's know that u need room to dance and they give you that respect unlike guv. In a Perfect world the SS boys would open up a club and bring in the insane talent but they would have a capacity cap like the parties now and sell tix( but thats just a thought, dont take that seriously) i know Wintergalctic will be absolutely insane and i cant wait, and its not because of the awesome talent but simply cuz these guys know their shit when it comes to promoting and organizing a real party. These parties are perfect in every way, thanks for listening i know i ramble on and on lol.

cheers

Hey- it's not like we can't handle a 'superclub experience'- it's just that there are thing called "legal capacities", and last nite seemed in total violation. I've been to Twilo a few times (and it was a lot more comfortable than that was last nite), but they've had their over-packed moments, & caught much negative feedback from the patrons as well for it.
People go there to enjoy the music and dance. When there is no room to breathe, walk, stand, or dance, you feel cheated. I know I didn't enjoy last nite, due to the rammed club. I had a mind to leave early too, but stayed pretty late so I could get my autographs & pictures.
Maybe we need to stop bitching about it on this board, and start emailing and calling the club and letting them know how we feel about it. I'd call the fire marshall myself, if I thought it would do any good.... they're probably paid off.
I'm all for pre-sale tickets, as long as the ticket holders get in 1st, and that they actually cut the line off once it's at capacity.

If we took drastic action like that, and called someone higher up...then the club *might* get closed...its possible. And, we don't really want that, do we? I say we egg the Guvernment, and leave a note from the TA's...I think that'll do

Seriously though, we should email them first, and see what their reaction is to this...and if nothing changes...then I guess take it to the fire marshall or whoever...

I am by NO means saying to call the fire marshall- just making a joke that they're probably paid off. (maybe I shouldn't have said that....) Where I'm from, it wasn't uncommon for an official to make an appearance to make sure places were at their limits.
I think the right thing to do is contact the club & express your dislike for the overcrowding.

well I hate to break it to ya......

but I'd rather not burn to death...if I can avoid it.....and well.....we've seen in other places in the world such things do happen....at clubs.......

priority #1= LIFE...........

no if's ands or buts.......I Don't give a flying fuk about anybody who puts human life in-danger......so What's the kewl thing to do???

not say anything?
not do anything?

and when push comes to shove.....does it really matter if we lose one piece of shit club that doesn't care for human life anyways?

just a thought for ya??

we should send a clear message to the owners of guvernment......YOu ain't got enough money to stop JUSTICE from happenin.....that's a fukin fact..........

(P.S EMAILING THEM AND SHIT....WOULD LIKELY BE MORE EFFECTIVE THAN GOING TO THE FIRE MARSHALL)

peace

I was thinking the exact same thing

Im glad im not the only one who feels violated last night.. I don't think that is the superclub experience.. In my mind the "super club" experience is yes being surrounded by a large crowd, but still having enough room to enjoy yourself and get lost dancing in the music.. Guvernment did not allow that to happen for me on saturday night.. And, i think you guys are all right, we should give guvernment a call and send them some e-mails. Not saying "oh, your club sucks, you guys are terrible" just giving them suggestions, some creative crtisicism if you will.. I will be calling them today on my lunch break and telling them how much i love how they are bringing the biggest names in "house, trance and techno" to Toronto, but how i also feel like im being kicked around and treated like dirt as a customer.. How i feel that a capacity limit is A must have, not only for comfort but for safety reasons as well.. And, ill also state that if it is a money situation where they have to keep packing all these people so they can get enough money to pay off the DJ, that i am willing to pay that extra $15.00 to $20.00 on nights where special guest DJs come... And, hey!! If enough people call or send E-mails, maybe they'll get the message and make one of Torontos only superclubs even better .. I hope everyone else who feels the same as i do, will follow suit and let the Guvernment know how we feel.. Power to the people ... A voice in large numbers is a very powerful thing... ;P Alright.... Back to work for me
Oh and, i completely agree ever since Destiny seems to have Died, the Sonic State crew has taken over in amazing fashion they throw by far the greatest trance parties in Toronto, much respect to them, and keep up the great work!!!!

First the bouncers at the door...FAHK YOU! You are idiots I hope you read this. Why do you need to play the role that you are a somebody and I am a nobody cause I wait in line freezing my nuts off willing to pay a ridiculous cover charge and drop too much money at the bar. Fahk you prick, you need me more than I need you. Just shut up and stop with the attitude, patrons of the club don't need your shit!

Sorry, had to vent.

The place was ridiculous, people were losing their jackets because they had no space at the coat check. To worsen matters, some girls had their jackets robbed. Girls were kinda dumb for leavin cash or valuables in their jackets but still this is not a professional atmosphere.

When I saw Ferry was going to Guvernment I almost didn't want to go. But since, my buddies typically fall into what is considered and harshly chastized group called ginos, nobody really wants to join me in going to a more trance or electronica oriented club (they like to go where the skanks are). In any case, I had to fight tooth and nail to convince my one buddy to join me. We loved the music, but could not stand, let alone dance anywhere on the danclefloor. Coat check took up more time then we spent in the club. We left also around 3 because it was just hopeless. Both of us had shitty work weeks and though we were having an alright time, we just tired of getting stepped on and shoved around. It was not good. I am impressed that Guvernment is bringing in some hardcore DJs but I just wish it was at a different venue...
