The TOTA list of Extremely Useful Websites
ok.. everybody list a handful of extremely useful and practical websites that you think we should all know about .. i'll start on a couple..
http://transittoronto.org
This website offers more upto date information on transit system status, delays, and developments about the TTC than the TTC's own website. I guess this is no suprise given the TTC's state of affairs these days. There was a major disruption this morning on the Yonge line, and within 20 minutes news of the situation was available on the site.
http://ttcrider.ca
Speaking of the TTC, if you've ever wondered what those orange dots on the subway platform walls meant, you can find out here. Moreover, there are also tips on such things as which subway car to board depending on which station you're getting off at so that the escallator exits will be right in front of you when you exit the train. This site is home of the infamous TTC Efficiency Guide created by an independent rider enthusiast. Other funny tips include stuff like this:
If you get on a crowded 504 or 505 streetcar heading south from Broadview station, stand next to any elderly seated Chinese passenger. Chances are they'll get off at Gerrard — and you'll get a seat.
