Review:Genesis Concert(For Those Who Know)
Last night Genesis played at bmo field.
This is a board that discusses music.
Musical genius was played at bmo field.
I've seen Phil Collins before and knew that he could perform. But I didn't realize how talented the rest of the band was.
In normal concerts where bands go on never-ending guitar solo's showcasing how well they know the star spangled banner things might get a little dry.
But with these guys it was a group of musicians who were so gifted at their instruments...keyboards, bass, and of course the drums, that these jam sessions turned into the strength of the whole concert.
The Genesis Hits, like Invisible Touch, I Can't Dance and Land of Confusion, while incredible in themselves acted as mere bridges for them going on absolute incredible journey's.
Phil Collins was equally as talented singing as he was drumming.
The Show highlighted by a moment where everyone left the stage and Phil and Chester(the other drummer)began playing on a bar stool.
As the two of them started doing marching band like rhythms with one another then Collins'one arm began playing the beats on the railing. The railing turned into the back of the drumset, and then they worked their way around to the drumset where after maintaining incredible percussion playing railings, bar stools and the back of drumsets, they actually stood in at the drums, and climaxed with a 6 minute drum duet.
I couldn't have been more impressed with the show.

Only met Jenn's mom once, at the Rogers Cup like 3-4 weeks ago in August, but the woman is wild! HAHAHAHA awesome mom, such a riot! She's feisty too... was causing a ruckus at the cup with Jenn just texting me and shaking her head about what her mom was doing! LOL
<3 Jenn's mom. The woman has spirit. Its the way we all should live our lives and be, esp when older!! (I plan to!)
Man, and thats so cool about the concert... LOVE Genesis. Man, that takes me back to public school... one of the first music acts/bands/etc I ever had appreciation for (them and Billy Joel). Seriously. Genesis is technically the first of my musical roots.
I would love to see them. *jealous* Josh.

THEY DID
I can honestly say I knew every song they played last night.
Having my parents there talking about the first time they saw Genesis when Peter Gabriel was actually the lead and Phil was just the drummer and that they have never missed them in the last 32 years play in Toronto was great too.
And my parents were happy to share that experience with me and know that their musical interested have rubbed off on me over the years.
If I could afford it I would definately drive to Buffalo to see them play again tonight. I am also very happy that I had Josh with me at this show. Watching his excitement to everything was awesome

I hear that they were the Sasha and Digweed of prog rock back in the 70s. Peter Gabriel has an amazing voice, imo

Once I took a piss in front of everybody at Stereo. Put the garbage under the mixer, and did it right there while people were dancing and screaming. people thought I was playing with the mixer but I was playing with my zizi.

I like Phil Collins better on vocals with Genesis then I did Gabriel.

Gabriel and Collins are both awesome, I personally prefer Collins, but holy fuck, how can one band have so much talent in it.
