Review: Gloryhole @ CZ aka Jayforce unleashes the tech-house beast within 04/18/10
INNNNNNNCREDIBLE!!!! I was so mad pumped for this party (well, I guess I am for most things) and there was serious delivery. Even though it was techinally a regular Sunday, it still deserves a review thread.
Got there ten minutes to 8, just in time to pound back a pint before Jayforce's set. Headed downstairs and there was a really good crowd already formed. His set was absolutely relentless from start to finish. Endless energy throttling us around the dancefloor and bouncing off the walls. Impossible to stand still. He played the one track I really wanted to hear, the one that makes you feel like a spanish bull fighter holding a red cape (I need to actually try and remember what its called, I suck at house ID-ing). But it was seriously bonkers in there the entire 4 hours he was on, the crowd was eating it up. Plus its just impossible not to love the echo, echo, echo, echo!! <3 Yesssss, drives me wild. I can honestly say that this was one of the most enjoyable sets for me at the zone. Just pure fun.
Joee Cons was on right after and I was SUPPOSED to stay for only Jayforce's set and leave (work early yech) but Joee's sets recently have been really rocking. The past few months I've been impressed with him everytime I've seen him (he was REALLY good in the Gallery on Saturday night too). He started off really well, but unfortunately I was WAY too starving to wait any longer and went upstairs to try the chicken fingers for the first time (people weren't lying, they actually are good!), so I missed about half of his set. He played some really good tracks for the remainder of his set, a few nice and drummy.
We only stayed for a bit of Ricky's set b/c it was time to go home and pass out. Some nice tech-tribal and tech-house, but definitely prefer his TRIBAL tribal style.
Whaaaaat a fun night!
Sidenote: The sketch factor at the Guv on Saturday night was WAYYYYY worse than at zone yesterday. Scary stuff.
