hey thanks for the support...
TRIP works really hard to serve the community, but with the scene so large and fragmented, it is hard for us to be everywhere and do everything. We totally need and rely on support from the community to keep us going, this includes financially. While we do receive money from the City to keep going, it is really only enough to hire a few staff at minimal hours to organize and coordinate the outreach that we do at parties. We would LOVE to be able to print fancy flyers like dancesafe, but we havent anything in our budget that would allow us to do so. If there were some community fundraising going on, we could totally do it....there is a place in Burlington that prints 5000 postcards for $275, which is a steal...and we already have the info written so it is a matter of covering printing costs. Let us know if you have any ideas!
Re: pill testing, we currently cannot provide this service at parties because our funders (City of Toronto Public Health) do not support it. And with good reason, the tests do not provide substantial information on the substance, such as purity and potency. They will only tell you what the main ingredient is in the pill, and only if it is one of the 3 or so that it can accurately identify. The city also has to consider what the general public would say about users testing their drugs, and generally speaking, they do not like to tread in such hot water. So, for now, we have brought testing kits to NUMB where they are being sold, and not through our project, although we helped to bring them into toronto. They are $25 a pop, so go pick one up!
Thanks for all your support!
