Review: Sasha @ Guv

Happy Birthday Mike!

A good set layed down by the man, Sasha. Saw MANY TAs that I haven't seen in ages, which was awesome.

Sorry I left without saying goodbye to everyone. But I was walking by the exit, and the crazy idea of going home suddenly struck me

I was gonna say bye, but then I looked at the mob ahead of me and decided against it.

The Guv was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too packed. I don't know why they still pack it that much after LOL. If there was a fire in there, we'd all be dead. In my 2 years of partying, that was my second time being in the Guv main room. I don't take kindly to being packed in that much.

Other than that, I had a good time with Good night!

ok its 7:02am now and i just got into my room, so this is the first thing im doing.
despite having made plans in advance with friends of mine to go the guv and see sasha i ended up going alone coz the fools bailed out on me at the last minute.
so one i arrive there i walk around and thankfully run into rabbitjoker, and from then on i met other TA's. thanks to all the TA's that chilled with me, it made a world of difference to be with people then to be alone.

RJ: did your friends make it?
Trancechaos: nah, damn idiots never called
RJ: correction, your friends are here, and you are with them!

once again thanks to all of you that i met last night.

now onto the music: im more of a trance guy and was not really into it that much, so i wont go into detail, all i will say is that in both steve porter's and sasha's set they got a bit repetetive, but oh well it kept my head bobbing but my feet wouldnt move much.

guv was pretty packed and hot at some point during the night.i wish they would stop doing that, oh well.
and my biggest complaint of the night are the damn doors by the patio, oh my god, once natural light starts filtering into the club that kills my mood so fast coz im getting a wierd mixture of day and night and the lights in the club are doing thier flashing and there's this bloody natural light there. i wish there is something they would about that, but i guess not.

ok well its now time for me to go grab a coke and sit in front of my T.V and watch the formula one british GP.

High Rolloer. U could have stayed a little later, Race starts @8:00. I agree with your view of Sasha, I enjoyed the heat and crowd, Hate when it gets chilly in the wee hours. Sasha spun a good set, not at all like older sets I have heard.

got there at 11:30. went to patio & hung out. had 3 drinks. went to main room- JAMMED! enjoyed a bit of Porter. Sasha came on- more jammed. Too hot. Back to patio. Back inside. Back to patio.

Screw it- too fawkin packed in there to enjoy it at all- asked bouncer to 'throw us out' the patio doors rather than make us go thru the club at 3am. Waste of my time & $$$.

sorry we didn't say goodbye.

Got there at like 11:30. Thanks to John for the guestlist. Didn't have to wait in the Guvy line just got right in. I was planning on staying in the Guvy for Porter and Sasha but a friend of mine bought me a wrist bend. So i went back and forth between the two room till about 1:30 at which time i decided to stay in the Guvy for a little while. Stayed in there till about 3 so i saw some of Sasha. It was way too packed in there so i headed over to the Kool Haus. Had an amazing time there. So much room to dance, wicked music, and it was nice and cool in there. Stayed there for the rest of the night.

Overall it was a fun night.

Sasha put on a Great set, keep me moving until my feet died.
But the highlight was when Porter spun Basement Jaxx - Rendez-Vu
( SICKKKKKK TRACKKKK )

It was amazing seeing all the you TA's. Its been a long time since we have partied.

To bad people(aka. assholes) felt the need to keep walking around all night long pushing their way through, that was the only downside to the night

Overall it was a great night

Well others have said it, and I will as well, it was way too fackin' packed in there last night. I've been in the Guvernment when it's been more packed, but for some reason I've never been bumped or shoved as much. This is the first time that I've really let a crowd get to me and effect my night. Whatever though, it was SASHA, so all was worth it.

Not going to go into the music too much, as I left pretty early with some friends I was with. Steve Porter threw down a great opener. I definitely liked his set last night a lot better than his last one at System. Love Porter's production work, and now becomming a fan of his DJ sets.

Sasha was incredible from what I saw. A lot of good breaks mixed in. I think that Zabiela is having a major effect on the music Sasha plays, and the way he mixes it. Sasha is a world class DJ because he's been able to learn new technologies and up date his style, keeping it fresh for us.

Finally, I wanted to say thanks to Mike who i met last night. It was so nice to get a chance to meet some of you guys last night. There were a lot of new names, and I don't remember all of them, but I know the faces. I heard a lot about how great TA's were, and I experienced it first hand. You guys were the best part of the night for me. I'm looking forward to the next time that I see you all. Sorry for just taking off so quickly, had some friends I was with, and we wanted to hit up the front of the floor. But it was great to meet you all!!

The music was wicked, the club was way too packed though, and that was a little too much to handle.

Wow! ta's were out in full effect last night! As Graham said, there was soo many out that I haven't seen in a while. It was wikkid to meet Trancechaos, striptease4me and vivkyvale, and of course, the new honorary TA members, Laurie and Brian (or was it Ryan?) Either way, 2 of the coolest cats in the club for sure!
Huge thanx goes to LKD for makin it possible for me to hit this party, I owe you!. Extra big spankx goes out to Max for drivin, I had an awesome time partyin with you man and I cant forget Gavin...you're crazy man, and what do you keep laughing at?????
(oooh! and I was sooo happy Beh showed up later! Didn't know if he was or not and it totally rounded up my night!! Thanks hun!!!)
As obvious any party with the TA'S turns out good...the crowd on this one just killed me tho...I think I jinxed it when it was slightly empty still, I wished it would stay somewhat like that. By the end of the night, I was sooo sick of people bangin into me, I was tellin people they needed to back off or they were in my space. Also, the touchiness was in full effect. Even when I was standing WITH Beh, HOLDING HIS HAND EVEN, guys would come up behind me and grab my ass, or try to start grinding up against me like we were in the Orange room or something..totally NOT cool and did not help at all!

Over all, good night tho, thanx again to those who got me there and the one who got me home
Cheers!

I did not even think of going to Sasha last night to Guvernment. I am not that crazy to go to the place that will be extremly packed to listen to the music that I don't like that much.
I went to KH instead and I had AMAZING time. Bad Boy Bill and DJ Dan just killed me. Lots of room to dance, amazing music, and most of my friends were in that room too. Sound was also really good. I was leaving at four in the morning and they were still letting ppl in the main room, I think b/c KH was only half full. But I can imagine what kind of experience it was for everyone in there I realized that I just can't have a good time in Guv's main room, it's always way too packed and the sound usually sucks. Whenever I go to Kool House or Viva or Aria in Montreal it's much much better. No more Guvernment experience for me in the near future.

Great vibe from sasha. THe man never looked lost, as i would expect from an A list DJ. Mixing was awsome, and different. YOu can completly see that he is changing up his style, and i think for the better. He seems to be going more house, than prog now, which is cool, cause its easier to dance to now. Layed down some beautiful track, like only he can.

THe guv was packed as hell! but thats because they did not use their DJ booth, and had set up the rig on the floor infront of the main stage. I was on the stage, right behind sasha the entire time! There was no way i was leaving, when i could watch him spin all night. The man has no real concept of crowd interaction, which is sad, but expected. All night there was some problem with the sound/equipment, because Sasha and the audio guys were tinkering away with something, trying to fix it; dont know if they were successfull.

good news for all. THe sets WERE recorded! THere was a mic set up, recording the main speaker which pointed at the dj. Im just hoping it was on! lol. Sasha has a habit of recording the sets at guv, so thats good news for us.

hope everybody had a good time, i know i did! Porter was magnificent. I had never heard him before, and the last 6-7 tracks he played, my god, they were awsome. I would definatly go see him again!

Ill agree with you on that. For those who left Sasha before 5:00 or so, you missed the best of his set. He picked up the pace with some great electro infused breaks, and more upbeat progressive house. Even though my legs were cramped to shit, i had to keep moving. Ill have to say though, overall his set was not what i was expecting. He started out nice, but personally i felt his set was lacking the energy that Mr. Porter possessed througout his entire two hours behind the decks. Steve was unbelievable last night. So much bump to his set, i just went all out and drained all my energy on his set alone. I really feel the night would've been a lot more enjoyable for all if Sasha spun before Porter. Going from chunky upbeat funky progressive house, to Sasha's melodic journey was something that seemed almost impossible. And the crowd last night.....well, lets just say there were some creepy ass guys in there and i felt i was looking out for the TA ladies all night. I honestly think if we didnt have such a hype TA group for the most part, the crowd really wouldve got to me.

Ive been saying for a long time that "i hate the Guv crowd", "i hate how packed it gets", yadda yadda yadda. But ive come to the conclusion that its probebly better off this way. I dont want the kind of people i saw lastnight to invade the REAL clubs in this city. All you g'd up, ignorant, rude ass bitches who were in attendence......thanks for reminding me of why the Guv sucks balls. I will NEVER go to the Guv again. You guys can catch me at System or Boa.
