Are epic electronic music festivals a thing of the past?
Heres my thought process...
So after reading that abysmal thread on glove lightshows, and seeing someone post "TA isn't what it used to be" I decided to take a look at the deep past of this forum.
So i checked out some threads from back in '01-'03 and i realized there were alot more outdoor parties back then. TA Cottage parties, Camping parties, outdoor live dj events etc etc. and most importantly (in my books) WEMF!
Im really a raver more than a clubber..the whole reason i got hooked into the scene was the sense of mental freedom that only an outdoor party can provide. I generally don't like going to clubs, cause its pretentious, expensive, and most importantly very rarely can you find space to dance.
WEMF has more or less been my Christmas for as long as ive been in this scene. Seeing John 00 Fleming or more recently Max Graham or Kyau and Albert at full tilt while being outdoors is something else.
Nowadays there arent many options. I was fortunate to spin at a budding electronic music festival 'Beatroot' this past summer, but aside from that, all i see are tiny psytrance festivals.
ramble,ramble,ramble...
Is it possible to have a 10000 person outdoor party in Ontario?

You could always take the trip to New York for Electric Zoo. Last years two-day-oudoor-festival was completely epic on all levels (afterparties included...)
(I know its not Toronto, but just a thought.....)

Ummmm.... DEMF is defiently a contender for one of the most epic outdoor parties... it keeps growing and growing and each year more and more fun!

while i havent been to DEMF, i understand its in a very urban setting.
Maybe what i mean is a true outdoors party... like wemf at tweed, or Algonquin.
i think all the suggestions people are throwing out are great, but i dont think u can really compare them to WEMF. the whole vibe around WEMF was really built around camping out for 3 days and the true "outdoor rave" feel in the middle of nowhere.

I think they're in need of a revival.
