Funky House making a comeback? (is it the new electro?)
Just listening to Desyn's recent set and I'm like... since when did Desyn start playing funky house?
Not really straight up funky house, but more laced with tech and groovy bassline. And tech with heavy funk influence.
Really digging Luke Fair, add2basket, shur-i-kan, joris voorn, etc and I'm like, this is good shit.
New fad? Discuss

speaking of stores and music - Jacob in Manulife building plays damn good funky house - none of the mainstream stuff but very Hed Kandi'ish and they have a good sound system too
makes me go in there even more often

anything except dubstep!
Disco house may rise and dip in popularity, but it will never die. It's the perfect fun party music.
And +1 on dubstep sucking.

Once again, allow me to point y'all in the direction of Sonny Fodera if you're diggin all of this. His set here last March still rattles through my headphones on a consistent basis. Hopefully what I've heard about his imminenet return is true.
For me, I'm liking the way things have been headed outside the major clubs, especially what the guys from Bounce and Eclectic Groove have been doing around town with their house and booty throwdowns.
As far as funky house making a come back, I've been enjoying its slow resurgence over the past year and a half, but I really hope it doesn't become the "new electro" where a bunch of goofballs start asking me: "Hey bro, if you like ______ then you should really check out some ________". Which has been a consistent phrase with what many people call "electro" when I've ended up talking tunes with n00bs & n00bs near graduation to rookie status.
No, I haven't had my coffee yet. Why? I sound jaded? Oh. Yeah. Kinda looks like that eh? Ah well, I've written this much, no editing here.
