I'd get a wired router and spend that bit of time running cables around. Unless you're fairly proficcient with computers and know how to secure and encrypt the wireless setup, I wouldnt do it.

i'm asking for a wireless one for a reason. there's not much to do with the whole encryption thing, plus no one is gonna leech of me regardless. not worried about that.

The standard:
Linksys WRT54G

you can even install a hacked firmware to do more things with it.

I have one and also many people I know.

If you search on forums and stuff you'll find this is one of the best in peoples mind.

Just got a Linksys WAG356G and I'm impressed with it so far. It's for ADSL not cable though.

I would go with the linksys too. Ive had trouble with netgear in the past and a couple of friends have also had trouble with them.

Netgear without a doubt ftw.

DO NOT,
I REPEAT
DO NOT, go with the Linksys ROUTERS.

I have this misfortune of beingbehind one on an NTL cable connection.

Used so many different types of hacked and unofficial firmware and it's still a big pile of... rubbish!
