I've always considered Windows Media Audio (WMA) to be of lower-quality. However, when ripping music from a CD, which format would you go with if you had to choose between these two:

- Windows Media Audio (Lossless)
- MP3 (320 kbps)

Well, I rip my CD's via the Zune software. One of the format options that it gives you to use for ripping is "Windows Media Audio (Lossless)". It says that the bitrate varies between 370 kbps and around 430 kbps.

It definitely offers me the highest amount of quality and will use up the most disk space (which I don't mind at all), but I still have my doubts about WMA....

FLAC or WAV would be best, but if you have your heart set on either of those two formats, you have to make a decision.

WMA lossless will preserve the original sound of the file (and will therefore sound better), but MP3 is a more accepted and workable format.

I'm mostly just thinking about what format I will be playing my CD's on my Zune. I have my entire music library on my 80 GB Zune, but I'm only using up around 25 GB of that. Most of it is music at or around 198 kbps. I just figure that I have the extra space on it for better audio quality.

But, as far as I know, the Zune players won't playback WAV files (which is absolute madness).
