Weddings

I've never been to a wedding yet, which is probably a bit odd, since I'm 27. But it just happens that no one I have known well over the years has gotten married yet, and my parents never made me tag along to the weddings of anyone they knew, either.

How many weddings have you been to? Any particularly memorable or unusual experiences with them? Have any thoughts on weddings in general, or the extravagant rituals that surround them?

(My gf is away at her best friend's wedding this weekend, which prompted me to think about this stuff.)

I attended my first wedding this past summer. My cousin in Austria was getting married and we hadn't visited in some time so it seemed like the perfect occasion. I thought it was really enjoyable - an extravagant night with booze flowing, lots of dancing, laughing, and smiling. It certainly didn't make me want to get married - but I do think that weddings are pretty sweet.

i've been to many a wedding.
the ceremony is endurable and sometimes nice,
the reception is much more fun.

btw, if your girlfriend is away at her best friend's wedding,
you better be ready for the "when are we going to get married" discussion when she gets back.

More importantly, what kind of person doesn't invite their best friend's long term boyfriend to their wedding? Bitch.

I was invited! But work and impecuniousness interfered.

I fucking love weddings!!!!!!!! I have been to many!

I've actually crashed one! I went to one of my buddy's wedding and the reception hall they were at had another one going on right next to it. I waltz right in, drank free beers and danced. I could tell people were staring and were like who the fuck is that guy? It was fun!

I was invited to be a best man at a wedding - talk about a ripoff.

If you're ever invited to be a part of a wedding, stay away!

What kind of fun is it to pay for a flight, tuxedo, hotel, etc. just to see your friend indirectly tell you that your friendship won't ever be the same again. Fuck that.

Weddings are good for one thing and one thing only: open bar.
