trancin in the USA

I was wondering what cities in the US are the best for clubbing and/or have the best trance/clubbing scene. I get the impression that there's not much of a scene in most American cities. I mean, in Toronto there's constant parties and Toronto probably doesn't compare to some big European cities...so what's it like in the USA then? I suspect if you lived somewhere like Kentucky or Idaho you'd be shit out of luck if you were into trance or other types of electronic/dance music but I suppose it would be different somewhere like Boston, Miami, SanFran, or New York. The reason I ask is because I'd like to live in the SouthWest US sometime next year travel/working.
Cheers

well i dont think the lack of representation helps.

alt those places not represented very well are most likely not going to have a very good scene either.

having been around the US a bit...i know theres a bunch of stuff in Cali, there has to be. Washington, the state, has some good stuff going on around Seattle. i know my hometown Boulder/Denver Colorado has a great scene thats growing in Denver, while its been in Boulder for a long time...i was a latecomer. i just know that if you like trance, dont come to Detroit....im here now and there aint shit. theres 'real' techno if thats your thing...but its not all its cracked up to be. alt on a positive note we just got a good club in Ann Arbor. overall, in my limited experience, while the super clubs in NYC were killed by Guiliani and theres that stupid RAVE act in congress, the scene is growing up and looking good in most cases. talk to more people tho, cause i dont want to speak for those that know more about their individual areas....

The San Francisco bay Area is great if you like a diverse crowd with open minds. Trance is most popular only to house in most of the clubs. Pretty much all the big name DJ's come here. There tends to be a lot of asain e-tards here which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. I personally like it.

recently in chicago a lot of big name trance talent has been brought it, and it just doesnt seem to stop. buuren, marco v, ferry, etc. as for here in detroit...there was never really a 'trance' scene, more of a rave/techno scene. it was fucking huge here from what i understand from 94-98, although i was young and never went. it has just slowly faded away, and the cops bust up everything now.

well, i'm currently living in the South....Louisiana to be precise!
It's not the best place to be in....but it's the best for my major...
As for the scene....well, i just started to check it out....cuz you never hear about raves or clubs with good music....but then i found www.ravers.org ...and it listed some events that take place...mostly in LA (louisiana)....and from what i see, you have an Ok trance scene....more DnB...and break beats....stuff like that....it's ok!

can't wait to go to a major event! with a famous DJ on board!

yeah, the drinking age is 19, but so is the legal age to get into a club. am i right? what about those 18 year olds who just want to go out and party to. they can still do it here, just not drink 'legally' inside the club, or outside of it. but that NEVER happens.
