"Violence is better and more appropriate than sex."

I don't get it.

To elaborate: One of my friends is an artist, but refuses to even speak or think about sex. On the other hand, it's perfectly okay to draw violence or people being bound and tortured. Huh? Maybe it has to do more with the religion, though. (Mormon) Or the country. (America) Or both.

Where do these principles stem from? It seems kind of funny that inflicting pain on someone is more acceptable than one or more people enjoying sex.

well, it appears that the media/ social consensus in this country is that violence is not as bad as sex. If you take a look at movie ratings, say Mortal Kombat (PG-13 if i am not mistaken), violence is socially much more accepted to be shown to minors than sex. From my youth in Germany, most movies that were pg-13 here, were 16+ or 18+ over there, mostly for their violent content. On the other hand, movies with sexually explicit themes were rated 12+ (nudity, either 16 or 18+) while being R rated in this country.

I don't understand why seeing a woman's naked breast, or a man's naked behind (both have been on free tv in germany, airing at noon, or 2pm) is worse for a young adults mind than seeing someone tear out another persons' spine (MK)?

I really don't see why violence is 'better' then sexually explicit themes?

i totally agree, and think America is fucked up and repressed sexually. Id be pissed if I were a woman. I was thinking the other day that women should be allowed to go topless if they damn well want to. I would rather see that than some fat ass hairy dude spilling his lard all over the sand. I love having my shirt off, and its sad that guys are so sexually fucked up that THEIR crude thoughts make it so women cant express themselves or feel comfortable.

A lot of guys have bigger titties than a lot of girls, and they dont get called lewd or anything lol. I think a lot of men have a lot of growing up to do.

agreed.
it is funny to see the difference between europe and the us.. yet a lot of germans think we are sexually repressed.

some religions see sex as something "dirty"... as for violence, it has become somthing so common in our society that we have become desensatized to it.
