windows experts please help!

k, so my bro did something to my computer 2 nights ago, and i got a major HD crash... so i had to format and start over. i used to use win2k pro at school, but i've moved home for the holidays and all i have here is winxp home... so i installed winxp home yesterday, and now, i can't access my mp3s that are stored on my other hard disk. i keep getting access denied messages when i try to copy to or delete stuff in my mp3 folder. for some reason, this problem is only affecting this ONE folder on my drive. the only way i am now able to do stuff to my mp3s, is to turn on file sharing and check "allow users to change my files". these are my local files and i'm the administrator of this computer, so i dunno why i'd have to allow network users to change files just so i can change files. i don't like this solution... can anyone help me please? thanks.

You could try copying the files over in the Command Prompt XP has, or you could get hold of another computer and try the hard drive in there....

d00d i had a similar issue and i know the answer, boot into safe mode (as admin or equiv), within safe mode u can access file permission by right clicking on the folders, I'm sure the security descriptor table may be corrupt. Take a look at who has permissions on the folders and add yourself with full control. i assume you're using WinXP home which requires that you boot into safe mode to change folder and file permissions, if you have winXP pro then u can do it from normal mode with any admin account, hope this helps.
