how do u uncap a cable modem. I used to be going faster then 3mbs a second and upload to other peopel @ like 1mb a sec. and now the fucked it all up. the cable company put a cap on the modems. i need to know how i can make it go faster? any idea's?

isn't manual uncapping ILLEGAL?????????????? i thought so....

and as for uncapping, it's alllllll illegal unless you pay the extra fee to your provider to have, hmmmm, 100 more kb downstream.

here in Aus, we only have a couple of providers... I have a buddy who rings up and gets to know the tech adviser... he enquires about software that he might have and the adviser might be looking for (not necessarily to do with the immeadiate topic of conversation)... from irc friends... he then swaps capping for software.

Now I am no irc guru, in fact i am more than ignorant when it comes to this and I dont have cable at home (uni server is good for me) so well all this is a bit by the way. however it worked for him... so good luck. I am not sure who whould pay for infrastructure to transmit information... however i believe it is beneficial to a community and its successful use a tangible measure of societal decency. hmmmm

i get 60k down and 15up, no big deal.

all i know is, you can't uncap a cable modem because the cap is on THEIR end. no matter how many tweaks you try to do to your registry or install software, you won't surpass your cap. trust me. i know. i tried. speedguide will help with the stability of your connection speeds but it won't uncap your modem.
