My friend and I are planning a trip to Western Europe after our senior year and basically im gonn apost up our "itinerary" so I can get help from those of you who actually have been, or live in these places.

I just wanna know what are good places to be, what places on the list suck.. any suggestions you may have, whatever!

Its kinda an experience trip, we just wanna go do something different and "be" somewhere other that here for a while just to check it out. Well for sure hit up tons of parties, but thats not all, we wanna see cool places, big cities, beaches, mountains, lakes, and the entire fuckin library of greatness that embodies western europe.

well, i can only speak for greece, but i really recommend you go to at least one island, like santorini or something like that. in athens the southern extensions of it (varkiza) has great beaches and i hear david morales practically lives there take that as a good or bad thing lol delphi is pretty cool, an awesome looking cosmopolitan city called arahova just above it (especially in the winter due to the ski resort) ive had maany picnics on mt. parnassos above delphi, very nice and quite cold due to the elevation. tripoli never been there honestly i dont even know whats there i think thessaloniki (salonica) would be a better idea from a city standpoint. feel free to ask away if you have any questions about this little part of your glorious trip through western europe.

I would definitely suggest warm countries such as Spain Greece & Portugal but that doesn't mean u shouldn't spend more time in the other countries . By the way , Barcelona is in Spain (not in France) . Scandinavia is pretty big actually , it's Island Danemark Norway Sweden and Finland (5 countries) , i recommend Stockholm which is in Sweden , even if i have never been there before , i know that it's probably the best place in Scandinavia (people from the other countries don't get mad at me ) .

Next summer i will do my best to accomplish a trip in Europe , my itinary would be like this :
-Departure from Casablanca (Morocco) to Spain (somewhere in the south like Malaga)
-Party in Spain , mostly in la Costa Del Sol and Balearic (spelling ?) isles
-Trip to France (Cote D'Azur , Monaco , Paris)
-Trip to England (London mostly)
-Trip to Belgium (Brussels and maybe Genkhe
-Trip to Holland (Amsterdam and many other cities)
-Trip to Germany (Berlin baby !!)
-Trip to Sweden (Stockholm and Norkopping)
-Leaving to Casablanca from Stockholm via Amsterdam

I hope to get enough money to realise this dream (even if i already toured in Europe)

hey marc i did the "backpacking through europe" thing in summer of 2000 .... good stuff! i recommend (since you're going to Naples, IT), to jump on that sea-side train and take the 30 minute ride farther south to Pompeii.... that's the ancient civilization buried by the volcano, Mt. Vesuvius, and the excavated everything and you can tour it... an entire city over 2000 years old!! its very badass, and they were way ahead of their time (except in planning where to build the city )

but that is a must-do..... also if you're heading from germany into austria to see Vienna, the train takes you through Innsbrouck... i HIGHLY recommend staying there at least a night... VERY beautiful, tucked away in the mountains....

...and when you're in Munich, DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE HOFBRAUHAS!! that is like the Mekka for american college kids - all beer, and the most excellent spaghetti and good times! and when in Munich, stay out of The English Gardens!!.... i was "conned" into going there by other american tourists (apparently its a big practical joke going throughout the hostels...) its actually a gay-nude park, and you don't realize this till you're in the middle of it.... god it was hell!

and... well the list goes on.... but have fun!

i suggest Prague most definitely nowhere else will u find 20 cent pitcher of beer (so i've heard)

also spend less time in italy trust me on this one i'm NOT going into details

last visit my home country of Croatia

cities of: Rovinj, Porec, both close to Italy so not too far out of the way...and if you want to party hardy go to Dubrovnik (the old skool walled city that got bombed a lot during the war 10 years ago) and visit Split which is another great party city up the coast

u will never regret visiting this place,

ispent more than a month on the croatian beaches this past summer omg i had the funnest summer in my life!!

I just can one again say HEY! me too, well i mean that i have done such a trip this summer, but only through two locations. Nevertheless ive been to several cities in 2001...
In summer i made
Amsterdam---> a place where u can have EVERYTHING u want, indeed. I read a t-shirt in some souvenir store saying "good guys come to heaven, bad ones to amsterdam"--says it all Yet its not just a drug and sex city but has also nice museums (van gogh f.e.) nice street artist shows, an unbelievable variety of restaurants and clothes stores..and HUUUUUGE book stores!! i spent hours in those gigantic book stores who have also very rare and old second hand books..yes
Abtwerp--> Nice, just nice. Relaxing after Amsterdam. Nice huge ciname nice stores, friendly people, good food, optocally beautiful, excellent rock scene i think...and grea great clubs to which i didnt go though since they are mostly 21+ ( Zillion ) But it has also very cool pubs and stuff...and french fries with mayonnaise (and royal with cheese.)
Paris---> Tourist place, of course its maybe the most beautiful place every, but the atmosphere..well..donno. Theres nothing that stinks more than some Metro-station , I also think that it is City number 2 after New York in terms of psychopatic inhabitants (wo jump at you just for fun or begging u for a condom or a peep show..) But check out the Louvre..and all the tourist places and of course the "Montmartre"..where u can sit under the Sacre Couer and have some amazing view over Paris at night (there are also excellent restaurants and "creperies" up there)
Prague---> Surprsingly it ROCKED! Everything is SOOOO cheap. it has I think even more tourists than Paris(really!), good food, the centre with that church is so beautiful..clubs are not really that hot..but the girls ARE! Again a surprise....must have seen the most beautiful chicks on earth there. Definately worth visiting!
Malaga in Spain--> been there last fall, nice nice...nice beach..nice..not more :=) But i liked the city's atmosphere somehow..cant describe it. If ure there go watch a bull fight..if its not too cruel for ya
Berlin---> Been there 2 months ago. German, what can i say..also has its charm. Especially the contrast bewteen the ex-communist eatern part and the modern west (the new architecture on the Potsdamer Platz must be one of the most breathtaking things ive ever seen)..Havent been to the discos but to very nice pubs and snobbish bars on "Hakescher Markt", recommendable..
Vienna---> my country, my capital..dont like it but i cant judge it in an objective way, so lets leave it hehe..but u can still take a train to LINZ, my city and say hello(Linz sucks though)
By the way...Barcleone is NOT situated in France
And where are u gonna live`? Youth hostels? if YES then make sure u make youre reservations WEEKS before.something i failed to do cause it would have damaged the "sponatinty"..but the alternative were realtievly expensive 2 and 3 star hotels
Will u buy an Inter-rail ticket? U know..which allows u to travell through certain "zones" during a certain period...?

anyways, right now the plans are to fly over sometime in june, get a eurrail pass (or whatever their called, just one that I can use to go around), and stay in hostiles and stuff. I agree, TranceGiant, it would ruin the spontanuity of the whole thing, im not even sure if we want to really follow an itinerary, but if thats tru what you said about hostiles then I think well have to stay on track. Thanks everyone for helpin out.


BTW, how much would a train pass cost to go to the places i wanna visit? I gotta figure costs and shit way before so I can start savin.

i went through a lot of europe during the summer of 2000 and i'm definetely going back this summer. if u go this summer defintely go in June. There aren't too many tourist, the weather is nice, all the club and raves will be going strong and of the course the WORLD CUP will be happening! If you're an American that has never left the US its hard to understand what its like to be in a foreign country during the world cup....but to make a long story short it fuckin badass!
The places i went through last time were eastern France, western Germany, Holland, almost all of Italy, and a little of Switzerland. First of all I want to ask, are you going for the parties/music/clubs or for the historic sites/art? Most of the time you have to choose between one or the other. And do you like small medival towns or would u rather stay in cities?
I really liked the German counrtyside, especially the Rhine River, but I didn't really the cities. Same deal with Italy, except for Milan I didn't really the the bigger cities. I cities I really did like were Paris, Amsterdam and Milan. The smaller towns I would recommend going to are St. Goar, Germany-The castle there is amazing...I've been to many ancient pyramids in Mexico and it's just as neat; Assisi, Italy -The famous monk St. Francis is from here, the Franciscan cathedral and small town charm make it nice place to visit; Verona, Italy-The town of Romeo and Juliet, it every bit as cool as I imagined it would be and more, the Roman amphitheater is nice too..one of the most romantic places in the world; and Interlaken, Switzerland-A lake situated between several mountains in the Swiss Alps.
Anyhow I'll be in Europe from early June to early July. I'll mainly be watching soccer during the day and hitting up every major club and rave at night. Tell me your plans, maybe we can organize something. My aunt live in Amsterdam, I have some friends near London, and I know Spanish...so I'll be in those three places a lot.

travel on train and stay in hostels, the prices are great and u can meet a lot of peepz that way.

i agree with almost everything he said.... did all the same stuff myself.... yeah the boat-ride down the Rhine is amazing... a lot of small towns.

experiencing the world cup over there is AMAZING.... so much energy... i remember i was in the main train station in Berlin when one of the semi-finals matches was going on (between germany and france i believe, not sure), and there was probably over 2,000 people in the train station JUST to watch it on the main screen in the lobby.... i mean people were coming off the street into the station to watch... the energy was totally amazing! i was afraid i was going to get caught in a huge riot (like you see on TV, heh), but in all the huge soccer games i watched, no one ever fought.. so thats good. then after the games are over the streets are NUTS with cars all honking, people waving flags, some cars were doing 180's in the road... TOTAL chaos, but so much fun!

I would disagree with Excite ONLY on seeing Interlaken, CH...... I went there too, and although its nice and beautiful, its a tourist trap with prices that are SKY HIGH and ridiculous for what it is... DEFINITELY not worth the money... they gouge poor american tourist kids there.

Excite: I'm going for the "Europe Experience." I wanna do the clubs and shit just because im there, but thats at night. During the day i wanna see cities and stuff as well as countrysides and all that. I know its kinda tough to do it all in one trip, but i dont think ill have many othe ropportunities to do this and I'm sure the two (clubs and sites) will cross paths sometimes so I can double up in a few places.
