How do you make an MP3 play at a higher beats per minute?

I'm burning a CD and I have this song that plays at 134 BPM.. but it sounds much nicer at 140 BPM. I was wondering if I could convert that 134 BPM in 140 somehow.

I tried using this DJ program.. but with that I'd have to sit for the whole 9 minutes of the song for it to record at the higher BPM plus it would record all the slowdowns that happen when I record shit on my shitty comp.

So is there a pogram out there for my needs?

Easiest way: Install pitch plugin for Winamp and change the output plugin to Nullsoft Disk Writer

If you have CDJ's, connect your mixer to your PC & you can adjust the pitch to record at whatever speed you like. No doubt any mp3 DJ software will behave exactly the same

I recommend Audacity, a decent freeware audio editor. It does alot more than you're looking for, but can also easily adjust picth and will be useful to have around next itme you need it

Nik Novo said it the best.

You can also grab a tiny wave editor called Goldwave which has a Playback Rate function which you can adjust to your liking, then save the track at the new speed. I used to do this all the time for making workout mixes because they simply were not fast enough for my liking while running.

Which pithc plugin would that be? And also when adjusting the pitch will it tell me what BPM it's going to? I need to have it at 140BPM
