LOL...I expect that from some. let me shed some light....
Rats are great pets! I know many people that have pet rats, and many that own ratteries, they breed special pedigree rats. There are even rat shows for special breeds.
These aren't your typical wild rats, no way! These are domesticated, bred and hand raised with the intent of being pets.
Some people are grossed out because they think of the wild disease-infested rats. But odd that people aren't grossed out by hamsters, gerbils, ferrets or any other rodent-like pet. There are many people that love to pet my rats and hold them. I have an adult black and white (yes, she has hair) that gives kisses to strangers on their faces. People get a kick out of them.
They are extremely smart, very sweet and affectionate. And I've owned rats for many many years, and have never been bitten, ever. They are definately growing in popularity in the USA for pets. I guarantee them to be a perfect pet for anyone.
