BRITISH Airways has been left embarrassed after using a boarding pass issued to terrorist Osama Bin Laden to promote their latest ticketing service. The sample ticket included a frequent flyer number for Bin Laden, suggesting he is a regular passenger with the airline. It also placed him in the luxury of first class – seat 7C. The ticket is for a Northwest Airlines flight to Washington DC, taking Bin Laden fairly close to the Pentagon, part of which was flattened by a plane hijacked by Al Qaeda terrorists on September 11 2001. The image appeared on the front page of LHR News, a staff magazine covering Heathrow Airport. It is believed the image may have been “sabotaged” by a staff member, with the airline facing another round of strikes. The incident has raised concerns there may be security implications, and that terrorists may find it easier to get a legitimate boarding pass using a mobile phone. A BA spokesman said the company was investigating the incident. “A mistake has been made in this internal publication. We are working to find out how this occurred.”
