CPU?
RAM?
HARD DISK?
ANYTHING ELSE?
If it depends more than one thing could you please inform me how much(eg.10% Ram 90%Hard disk)
If you answer I can learn why my defragmants last more than 9 hours?? (( |
Here's what I heard before: It has to do with ALL of those things in a way.
It really depends on how fragmented ur HDD is and how fast can random files be moved to certain locations on the drive. So, how fast it defrags depends on how MUCH needs to be defragged, how many fragments are present in the files that need to be defragged, how much RAM you have (the more you have, the more pieces you can store in it), and the CPU speed (I think it's for how fast can the fragmented data can be moved from the HDD to the RAM AND organise it). So, in order, from most important to least important, it may go like this:
1. How many files are fragged.
2. How fragged are those files.
3. How fast is your CPU.
4. How much RAM you have.
5. How fast is the HDD, in RPM.
Correct me if I'm wrong. If you have a slow system with little RAM, of course defrag will take hours...
