im not the most efficient IRC user in the world (i.e. shite ), but for some reason irc.webchat.org is now hating me. recently every time i try to connect its been refusing my connection, eventually connecting after a zillion retries... so my question is this: is there another damn server i can use to get into the TA & UKTA channels?

Go into your IRC settings and tell it to connect to a random Webchat server. It'll just keep hammering until one works.
