Puzzle to ponder
Here something to think about:
Here's an interesting puzzle. 3ppl go to a hotel. the manager say it's $30 per night for the three of them. So they each pay $10. After paying the manager realizes that he overcharged them and sends the bell boy to give them back $5. The bell boy thinks that it is difficult to split the $5 amongst the 3 of them so he takes $2 for a tip and gives $1 to each. So each now only pay $9
9x3 =27 minus the $2
So where is that missing dollar?
I think I solved it
Anyone got similar puzzles or puzzle of this sort?

The third bill is lost with the tip they give to the bellboy.
Each guest ends up paying : $(25/3) for the hotel room AND $(2/3) for the bellboy's tip (this comes out to 9 dollars per each guest). since each of the three guests get a dollar back, everything works out and and there's no missing dollar. (i.e. guest #1 gets dollar 28 back; guest #2 gets dollar 29 back; and guest #3 gets dollar 30 back)
3*(9+1) = $30

there is no missing dollar...
30 (paid to hotel)
- 5 (returned to guests)
+ 2 (bellboy's tip)
-------------------------
27 ( = 3*9 )

another similar one:
You pay $20 for a DVD, but the clerk overcharges you by $5. Since he is dishonest, he keeps $2 and gives you $3 back. But if you get $3 back, you paid $17. Add to that the $2 the clerk kept, and the total is only $19. Where is the missing dollar?
