umm.. Probably the same etymology, but not the same.. French is spelled "esperence" If it shares the same root, doesn't really means it's exactly the same.. :P

L'Esperanza = "the hope" in Italian
La Esperanza = "the hope" in Spanish
La Espérance = "the hope" in French
A Esperança = "the hope" in Portuguese
Final conclusion: The sample is in Italian and it means "the hope". Could be Spanish if it weren't by the apostroph and the pronounce (the letter "z" doesn't sound Spanish in that sample). Also, it look like French at all

but i think there's a flaw,
in french it couldnt possibly be La Esperance since you would join the two words cause the second word starts with a vowel.
it would then be something like l'esperance.
