Every so often for no apparant reason my computer will pop up a windows message saying that my computer will shutoff in 60 seconds. Why is this happening and what can I do about it? I'm not experiencing any other weird behaviour and it comes on without warning, what can I do?
you can disable distributed dcom as well or just have your systems properly firewalled to avoid this problem.. i didn't patch for 3 days and i was never affected

how would someone go about fixing this problem if they have an illegal copy of XP? the comp i'm using right now (my dad's) happens to be running on a pirated copy and I doubt that dl'ing the patch from MS would help.
any suggestions?

You can get the small patches like this without problems but you can't get the SP1 update.

I fixed this problem without using the microsoft patch. What i did was press ctrl + alt + delete and then ended the msblast process. I then did a search on my computer for the msblast file and deleted it. I know have my firewall running all the time now.
