Yoga & Pilates

Who practices and who has reaped the benefits ?? It's rather upsetting when I have to do all the *modified* poses/stretches. I can't wait until I'm as flexible as Gumby Give me your stories, praises, negative regards, etc. Do you think this is just another Health Fad ? I know each of these means of enlightenment have been around for centuries, but I just wonder If we'll ever hear of Yoga and Pilates 2 years from now...

hehehe we were talking about this the other day in the workout thread. i'm in the same place as you...i've been trying pilates, but i can't do anything good. i think i'm gonna really start to work harder at it because i want to be flexible, but its really hard when you can't do some of the pilates exercises because you're pissed that you can't keep your back straight hehee

i know !!! i can't stand even stretching before working out, let alone fold myself like a burrito. Some of the poses I've seen seem unbelievable, like maybe a bone or your spine would slowly snap down, bone piece by piece. What I can't get is this... When im straining to stretch my body, the last thing on my mind is the focus of my breathe, which I know is the most important part And in the books I see, the instructors face & neck is all red from holding a pose and I wonder what could be so enlightening.. Anyone have any answers ?! None the less, I'm still going to procede Hang in there Floorfiller. The limberness of the body of a ballerina shall not pass us up
