I have more recently become a huge techno head and cannot find a site which is devoted to just techno (ie. Misstress Barbara, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Gayle San, etc.) Does anyone know of any sites that they recommend? Thanks.

Re: Is there a Techno Addict website?
Its good to see that other like tekno too. Good tekno DJs can be hard to find, I have recently stumbled apon a few sets by DJ Melrod which are pretty good. I caught Dave Aude at a party in Texas and he was throwing down some hard ass tekno. I wish I had the tracklist for that party, one of the tracks was really hard bangin and then would almost stop and would quickly ring really dark sounding church bells and then bangin again, it was a trip. To bad www.livesets.com is not accepting members anymore. Cosmix are you a registered member? If so could you vouch for me, seeing as most boards allow access only by having others vouch for em.

"trance is underground"?
huh? what!?
every fucking commercial break on the tv has a commercial for some goddamn trance cd - "everyone" listens to trance - "all" clubs play trance - "everyone" goes to raves...
hah.
trance is just as fucking mainstream/commercial as any other top20 dance act is.
sorry, but trance is not regarded as "underground" anymore... it hasn't been "underground" for donkey years.

some people seem to mean that "techno" is a genre of itself, instead of meaning that "trance" is a sub-genre of "techno"
Myself, I mean that "techno" is the top level name for electronic dance music.
(And, some people even say that techno is a sub-genre of electronica, instead of electronica being a sub-genre of tehcno... bah!)
confusing? yep.
I suspect that people who really don't know much about electronic dance music (and who just resently started listening to trance) are the ones saying that techno is a genre of itself.
I have listened to electronic music all my life... since the days of electro... and techno for me is "electronic dance music".

to Irios, take a look at any record store and you will see that techno is infact a genre. I mean look at the DJs I first posted and tell me that they fit into one of the main catagories (trance, house, drum and bass) nope. There are over 50 genres of electronic music out there everyone should check this link out for a better explination. http://www.ishkur.com/features/music/index.htm there should be a link in the middle of the page that leads to a Flash project he made that gives examples of many of the genres and sub-genres

I have to disagree with Irios - Techno IS indeed a sub-genre... ask any DJ, go to any record store - different style of music. I don't care how long you've been listening to "electronica" for, still doesn't make you an expert.
I am a big Techno-head, love trance still.... and yes, over here in the states, i would consider trance "underground" - if its not played on the radio or on TV then its "underground" to me..... welcome to the USA.
