What do you find Fascinating?

One thing I find just fascinating is fermentation. I understand how it happens, and the fact that sugar can turn into alcohol, is a marvel of nature! I am in no way a "Chemistry nut" but I could read about this type of shit all day!

big fancy buildings/highrises.

when i drive by one under construction i always look and think, "man, how do they start with a big pile of dirt and end up with a huge fancy 30+ story building with marble floors and elevators and all kinds of shit?"

Too many things to mention. But just now, the Palm Islands in Dubai. I never thought something like that could be achieved.

the wonder lies not so much as in the ability of nature to convert sugar into alcohol, but of the ability of nature to induce intoxication by the consumption of alcohol. conversion of sugar to alcohol is a fairly straight forward chemical process and we wouldn't have appreciated it as much, had not alcohol such wonderful properties

so it really boils down to the ability of alcohol to induce intoxication which is the truly fascinating stuff !!

But all that alcohol really does is make the brain release neuro transmitters that prevent the ability of the body to transfer signals from one nerve to the other and ultimately slow down the rate at which nerve signals reach the brain. that makes you dull and slow (intoxicated)

so it really boils down to the ability of neurotransmitters to do such things and the ability of brain to generate such stuff...

you see, science has answers to all wonders and mysteries

what lies beyond science is what is truly fascinating. we don't have answers to all of nature's wonderful ways !!!

many things, but for example, how did the first person to get drunk make the alcohol and know to drink it?

They probably made a type of grape drink, and forgot about it, then drank it, and felt goooooood.
