Could be awesome in the US, I don't know?
I worked in a heap of bars/pubs in the UK though, and well...not that great. I mean, your dealing with people 'at their best' all the time, and it gets old pretty quick. And you start getting picky at all the other bars you go to:
"Motherfocker keeps me waiting for ages (oh yeah, he fucking sees me), I'd never do that, this place has shit service! Fucking losers."
"This table hasn't been wiped in hours! These staff are filthy, lazy pricks!"
"Bitch calls that a shot? Get a clue."
After hours is lots of fun though

you don;t need to go to bartending school if u want to be a bartender.
u go to learn the proper mixes and counts for drinks.
i laugh whenever i see ppl making the wrong drink. My friend ordered a dirty martini which is supposed to be with a lil bit of dry vermouth and the bartender gave him a lot of sweet vermouth.
it was like a grey looking drink. when everyone knows martini's are clear [and gross]

I bartended at a dance club during my undergrad years. It sucked. My schedule was crap and all I did was sell bottled water and beer. Everyone was either on something (X heyday) or wanted a beer and didn't tip worth crap. I'm not saying all bartending is like that, as I know a lot of people make a lot of money that way. However, for me it was a horrible experience.
