one VERY VERY interesting idea was posted on somethingawful regarding the film...
It's a parallel for the 9/11 disasters where everyone got out their video cameras/cell phones to record the mayhem. It seems that the movie isn't a conventional movie, but a newscast. You watch the movie on opening night (1-18-08) at midnight, and you will have a "live feed" to the events of that night. Which might be why the timestamps on 1-18-08.com have a peaceful drinking scene at 12:01am and a look of horror with a timestamp of 12:36am (which is maybe 36 minutes into the movie)
