Im a n00b to photoshop, and I cant figure a damn thing out...

ive got 2 pics, 1 is my background, the other is supposed to go ON TOP of the first, BUT the white surrounding the item is messing me up

any online tutorials to help me out?

change the layers

click the magicwand, then select the white then click Del, make sure ur on the right layer or u will just select the canvans or the other pic... photoshop is a lot of trial and error, been using it for over 5 years now if u need anymore help icq me on 10320171
