Thumbs up Bear Grylls is the man [incl y00t00b]

Man vs. Wild is one of the best shows on Discovery in my opinion. The ways he'll just rip and meal apart stuff and rodents is just plain awesome!

Who agrees?

Stuff such as:

I love Man vs Wild. I don't understand how this "omg it's so fake!" mentality about the show came to be. Of course it is. It's all hypothetical, and obviously so. One of the first episodes I ever saw was where he was in the Arctic (or Alaska or something) walking across a frozen lake when he came across a patch of water, then jumped in just to demonstrate how to properly pull yourself out. Anyone who was truly stranded in a life or death situation in the wilderness wouldn't have done that.

It's a great show though, if for nothing else than watching an avid outdoorsman trekking through wilderness.

Agreed. Badass show. I haven't seen it on recently though. All I've been seeing is 'Survivor Man' which in my opinion isn't nearly as good (although still worthy of watching). I like Bear's British accent and just overall demeanour while on the show.

Maybe it's also due to him having a camera crew with him is why he recieves the lack of respect. There's no proof (that I'm aware of atleast) that they help him in any way during his week out in the wilderness.

well my issue was that he filmed an episode nearby my hometown in colorado, but despite all his efforts, you could see cabins and smokestacks in the background, so clearly he wasnt roughing it.

at least in survivor man he isnt traipsing around near some ski area or ranch|

IDk why some people started calling it fake all of the sudden. He always said that the camera crew is with him. Besides, you can't neglect his accomplishments. I believe he was the youngest to summit Everest; he served in SAS, and crossed the frozen arctic. He also does some wicked stunts on the show. I don't see how anybody can deny that he is a genuine bad ass.
