I prefer Samsung but they should both be beautiful sets. The LED will be more power efficient but I doubt you will notice any difference with 240hz. The human eye can't really tell the difference. Personally I'd rather go with a 50-56 inch 60hz set instead for the same price.

if you like staring at really shiny things, have never seen a high definition tv before, are sleeping with someone from consumer reports or the nfl, or hate the color black but love dark purple, buy the samsung.

if not, the sony, while bigger (depth), has a much better picture. the sony is backlit. the samsung is edge-lit. long story short, it makes the color, shadow detail, & viewing angles on the samsung suck ass.

the extra 120hz is a load of crap that wouldn't mean anything even if it was measured correctly. disregard it. the only decent-looking 120hz i've ever seen is on the nuvision fx5s, and that's because they're actually motion-predictive, as opposed to just blinking the same picture a bunch of times. even then, they still look goofy & cartoonish to me with the motion processing on.

if you're dead set on one of the two, the sony is a better tv. of course, you could also get a plasma that beats either of those two to death for waaaay less money. how much room do you actually have? the 46" sony is something like 49" W iirc.

i have a friend working at a store and can give me a great price on them.
everything else(which im sure can be better) is more $$.

Could you please give the me model of the TVs you are refering to?

tc-p50v10, tc-p50g15, tc-p50g10, or [46"] tc-p46g10

the pioneers are almost impossible to find because they've stopped making them and there won't be anything for a couple years that's as good, though, outside of maybe panasonic's new premieres. i've heard that they're great, but i'm reserving judgment on that 'til I get to actually see one in a couple months.

they don't anymore, but, outside of B&O and Runco (though the latter is definitely debatable), they've been the best sets for years. just as well--I'll never have the temptation of upgrading to a newer Elite. no such thing.

we just ordered some of the last 500Ms made. it was a sad day @ work.
