Is anyone else seeing this stuff that Google is unveiling?

The next iPhone is absolutely FUCKED.

They are also announcing a TV service right now that's integrated with their search engine and the internet.

Google Maps is a full-fledged GPS app that can be downloaded onto any Android phone.

The iPhone is fucked I'm sorry.

Not only does JIT on Android 2.2 blow the doors off of Apple's OS, but 2.2 is going to have streaming music from your home PC via the cloud, improved translation and enterprise features for global business users, and tons of other tweaks and performance upgrades.

The iPhone OS 4.0 is getting folders and wallpaper, something that could be done on a phone over a decade ago. The only interesting thing Apple has in store for OS 4.0 is that gaming network thing similar to Xbox Live, but at the same time the App Store has thousands and thousands of games, so not many users are going to be playing the same ones to make the service worthwhile.

Like on Xbox Live for example, you'll have hundreds of thousands of people playing one game. But on the iPhone, you'll have hundreds of thousands of people playing all different games (so instead of having a huge user base of gamers to compete with, you'll have less).

i've never dealt w/ GPS devices for autos/portables and/or seen what the garmin/tom tom look like, act. all i know is that i really like google maps, and want that in the palm of my hand. but i don't want an iphone

I hate to break it to you, but the iPhone is not going to be fucked for a long period of time. There are plenty of customers who will blindly purchase apple products simply because it's apple, and they are brainwashed into thinking all new apple products are revolutionary, thereby maintaining their hefty share of the market.

This, along with the fact that it's a convenience issue for a lot of people.

1.) It's easy to continue using an iProduct if you've already got half of your life on its memory.

2.) There are iPod docks, accessories, and support everywhere (good hold on the current market).

3.) iPhone integrates well with other Apple products, and acts similarly. (Lots of similarities between the touch screen and an MPB touchpad, for example.) Some people like this consistency.

I'm an iPhone user, by the way.

+1

I am all for freedom to tinker and customize a device, just not on a phone that you actually depend on.

I was debating between an Android device and an iPhone, but my final decision was based on the fact that it can integrate with a corporate MS Exchange account and was approved for use by my company. This meant I was able to ditch my company Blackberry and carry one single device that I own.

I kinda depend on the ability to easily check my work e-mail account and have it sync my calendar events, so the ability to do this on a device as versatile as the iPhone has been a godsend.

My girlfriend has a Droid, so I'm not completely blind as to what the competition is. It's a great phone, too.

I know that Google is starting to get its hands into the corporate market and I'm sure this will (if it hasn't already) mean big strides in this department for Android-based phones... but, iPhone has it now and it works well. So, that doesn't hurt.
