um.. let me just correct u, THAT (above link) is NOT! a memory stick. It is commonly referred to as a thumb drive, or a keychain drive or something of that effect. A memory-stick is a proprietary technology from Sony that they use in digicams etc.
now back to the topic:
I am more of a fan of teh expandable stuff. i bought a 5in1 reader (usb) when i was in HK. It was like $20. then u will need a CF (compact flash) card, but u can expand it lateron.
on the drivers:
in winxp and win2k I don't think u need drivers, but with 98 etc. u will probably (even with WinME, i think)

this is the 'up-scale' version of my thing. The cool part is that it comes with a 'cut' CD (small) which fits nicely into the sleeve that is provided for teh reader, so u can carry it around at all times. Plus if u ever get a digicam, chances are that u can use this!! 
anyhow, i love my thing, it was all i used when i was in HK
