they don't have to wear 'those rags' , but many of them do...
and prostitution is everywere.... but it's all dirty stuff...so don't go near there...

I havn't been to Turkey...but i've heard a lot about it... i can tell you that you can find all types of ppl.... you will mostly find veiled women in public.... i know for a fact that you have LOTS of very pretty girls.... totaly westernized.... you just have to be in the right place at the right time!
And winter....is NOT the right time! It's really nice in the summer!!!! the beaches are great also.... i reccommend asking some of the Turkish ppl hear on the boards....i know we have a couple!
