Ok, this seems to be a classic set (which I have buried in the hundreds of gigs of music I have on my hard drives)... I don't know what I'm looking for so I can't find it and it's driving me crazy ):

Anyways, I believe it is a long set (maybe a couple hours [~2])

The intro track is very old school with the sounds of helicopters (war helicopters flying by] and drum line that seems to hit at the same fast loud beat... i believe the intro was called something like helicopter intro ? The DJ then goes on to exit his entire set with the same song but an outro version...... he might even have mixed that same tune a 2nd time only a few tracks after the intro.

The helicopter track is probably like 3 minutes long, pretty big build up of older sounding trance, cheesier synths, cheesier drums... but this set was freaking amazing.

Anyways, I think this is somewhere along the lines of an Oakenfold, Corsten, I dont think it was AvB..but maybe... I don't think it was Tiesto, but that could be why I can't find the set b/c I haven't been checking his folders.

If someone can ID this for me................ my mind will be at ease and I will never forget this again. Thank you all, and I hope someone can save me with this one (:

just a note... i'm almost thinking this is a pvd set or oakie...but i'm not sure b/c I can't find it in any of those. I believe whoever it was, I remember noting that he used the same tracks in a few of his sets from around the same time (not the war helicopter one), but he'd use the same song over again later in a mix (as in play a track once early...then play it again an hour later for a little bit). I just found it odd that no one did that much anymore, the reason why I can remember noting that, using very slight differences in mixing the same track again later in a set... so whatever DJ used to do that a lot back then, it could be his set.

Your description of the tune with helicopter and drums sounds awfully like Starfighter - Apache. I know PvD used to play it around 2000 and no doubt others did as well. But I do remember hearing a set years ago where it was played at the start and finish of one of his sets. Worth a look.
