Clubs and Afterhours in Montreal

Click here for an almost complete list of clubs and afterhours in Montreal.

Afterhours in Montreal

Please click HERE for an absolutely great review of all major afterhours of Montreal, by our very own Kendo.

Other information can be found on BrianX's website.

ARIA is the place to be every Friday and Saturday, from 1:30 to 10:00 AM. Typically, Friday nights are Techno heavy, while Saturdays tend to be geared more towards House. ARIA used to be home to our very own Preach and is currently home to some of our very own rising stars, King Louis, Nick Pilon and Creator, and generally brings in some of the biggest headliners year round, so keep your eyes open at all times!

STEREO is our other major afterhour, a House mecca reknown across the world for its sick beats, its outstanding sound system, and some of the best House residents across the globe, including David Morales. Like House? Don't you dare pass by Montreal witout checkin' out!

Other afterhour clubs playing EDM include CIRCUS, Existenz, RED-LIGHT.

Regular EDM clubs in Montreal

Quality regular clubs playing EDM include CLUB 1234, CLUB SODA, CENTRAL STATION and UPPERCLUB.

Massives in Montreal

Massives are basically huge raves. By huge, we're talking over 5000 people, partying their asses off, in some rented venue that has been fixed up, enhanced both digitally and visually, to cater to your utmost sensual desires. Traditionally, the 5 largest massives have been BAL EN BLANC, SWIRL, CREAM, BLACK & BLUE and CELEBRATION (see descriptions below), although that varies according to promoters' creativity, venue availability and so forth.

BAL EN BLANC

BAL EN BLANC is the biggest and baddest massive of the year, held on Easter Sunday, every year. This massive has traditionally had two different rooms, catering to the House populace and the Trance/Techno afficionados. BAL EN BLANC 2005 was held in Montreal's biggest convention center, Le Palais Des Congres, on the 27th of March 2005, where over 15 000 people scantily clad in white from head to toe went crazy.

***Check out information for BAL EN BLANC 2006, which will be held on Easter weekend on April 16th 2006!!***

To get to the Palais des Congres by public transportation, your best bet would be to take the Metro to Place D'Armes on the Orange Line. Click here.

SWIRL

SWIRL was back in 2005 in full force after being cancelled in 2004. This massive had different styles represented, including Hip Hop (in a different room), techno and trance, and was held on May 22nd of 2005 at the Olympic Stadium, the former home of the now defunct Montreal Expos.

SWIRL 2006 information will be posted as soon as it's made available.

CREAM

CREAM is traditionally held on Labour Day Weekend (first weekend of September), every year. This massive tends to also be House oriented, so enjoy your "no-work" holiday in Montreal while listening to some bangin' House tunes. CREAM is traditionally held at the Bell Center, but unfortunately was cancelled in 2005 due to organizational complications.

CREAM 2006 information will be posted as soon as it's made available.

BLACK & BLUE

This massive has traditionally been a gay event, hosted by the BBCM (Bad Boy Club of Montreal), a volunteer-based non-profit organization giving financial support to groups providing direct care to people living with HIV/AIDS. Please donate generously. BLACK & BLUE 2005 was held at the Olympic Stadium, on October 9th 2005.

BLACK AND BLUE 2006 information will be posted as soon as it's made available.

CELEBRATION

CELEBRATION is the last massive of the year, held on New Year's Eve, every year. This massive tends to be House oriented, so if you're thinking of dancing the night away on the 31st of December into the 1st of January, and enjoy good House music, this event is for you. CELEBRATION 2005 is being held in the Bell Center, officially the home of the Montreal Canadiens. Approximate attendance for this event varies between 6000 and 8000 people.

To get there by public transportation, your best bet would be to take the Metro to Lucien L'Allier or Bonaventure on the Orange Line. Click here.

****** For potential meet-up places, check out the following locations ******

Baton Rouge --- Restaurant

Address: 1050 Rue de la Montagne, Montreal
Telephone: (514) 931-9969
Map: Click here
Website: Click here
Walking distance from Bell Center: 1 minute

This used to be the old Moe's Deli and Bar (one of favourite places). I've never been to this particular Baton Rouge, although I've been a couple of times to the one on St. Catherine and absolutely loved it. It's a very nice restaurant that is pretty inexpensive (15 to 20$ for a great meal) and that serves your typical BBQ chicken, ribs and so forth.

McLean's Pub --- Pub

Address: 1210 Peel, Montreal
Telephone: (514) 393-3132
Map: Click here
Website: Click here
Walking distance from Bell Center: 5-6 minutes

Great Irish Pub. Well known by Montreal peeps, and for good reason. Great atmosphere, good food and drink, pool tables, dart boards and so forth.

Hurley's Irish Pub --- Pub

Address: 1225 Crescent Street, Montreal
Telephone: (514) 861-4111
Map: Click here
Website: Click here
Walking distance from Bell Center: 5-6 minutes

Another great Irish pub also well known by the locals. Great atmosphere, good Irish music, always had a good time when I went there back in my undergrad days Here's a review: Click here

Map of Montreal

This is a Map of the Island of Montreal, and includes all major hotels, a slew of restaurants, major touristic attractions and shopping locations, all listed alphabetically and located accordingly on the map itself.

Transportation

The Metro

This is our underground public transportation system. More information regarding prices, availability, times and so forth can can be found here.

The Bus System

This is our public bus system. Click on the above link to get information about prices, times, and availability.

Taxis

Taxis in Montreal can be found almost anywhere, anytime, especially in downtown. Taxis can be flagged off the street, although if you'd like to go to the Airport, your best bet is to call them.

Hotels in Montreal

This is a great little directory website which is user friendly, quick and efficient, and allows the visitor to book his hotel online at some of the cheapest prices available. They also have a section on their website dedicated to "affordable hotels" -- read 2 and 3 star hotels -- which might come in handy when we're low on cash but don't necessarily want to stay in hostels.

Hostels in Montreal

This is also a directory website, and lists all major hostels in Montreal. Again, very user friendly, and offers great prices if booked online.

Restaurants in Montreal

This is a fantastic website of almost all major Montreal restaurants, and allows the visitor to search for restaurants according to location, price, cuisine, and other features. Use it if you're hungry!

Best of Montreal 2005

Finally, here's a great little guide to the best that Monteal has to offer:

Alright guys, completely revamped look, with some new updates. I still need to list some (potential meet-up) places around Le Palais Des Congres, and around the Olympic stadium, as well as places around Aria and Stereo. I also need to list some of the hotels/hostels closest to these venues. Any info and/or help regarding that would be appreciated, as I don't remember that area perfectly well.

Also, I'm thinking of including the names of some of our promoters in the initial post next to their respective clubs, and perhaps some contact info or what have you in case people want to get on the guest list, buy tickets and so forth. Let me know if that's acceptable, if you (the promoters) are ok with that, or not. Thanks.
