Review:: Erik El & Bruno Brown @ Circus Afterhours:: July 15th 2006
I got there with my non-TA friend at around 4:30am...Erik was fkn killing the place quite tastefully...bringing back some old school PROG (YAHOOOOOOO for me) and then Bruno came on not long after our arrival...and literally destroyed the damn dancefloor. I have heard Bruno on 2 occasions prior to last night and he impressed me those first 2 times BUT mon dieu mon dieu mon dieu!!! I was totally blown away by his track selection above all...just dark flithy progressive tribal house musick...I have never really enjoyed Circus for its venue nor for its crowd nor for the general vibe of the place ha! but when the music is good enough (and last night was MINDBLOWING) I couldn't care less about any of the elements that make a night out at an afterhours a night to remember. The music was THAT good...I was totally shocked at the quality tracks (we're talking old-school Sander, Lawler and Creamer here...those who know me and my musical tastes know that I die for that shit lol...)
So, anytime these guys spin, please check them out...to say it was worth it is a HUGE understatement of how musically phenomenal this night/morning was. Sick night

Afterhours is a state of mind, but significantly, it's more a state of 'I don't mind'. A determined continuation, contentment and relief that 'it ain't over yet!' An injection of music into attitude and occasion which creates an emotional wave forth that isolates globally, a ringing harmonic, a signal to a like-minded collective that 'we are only us'.
