Bronze, no disrespect, mais t'es dans le champ...toi et les Etats Unis.
As a disclaimer, for those of you who are religious, what follows is a rant about the use of religion in the public sphere of life. I have absolutely no issues with people who believe in x or y and keep it within the sphere of private life, although I would of course encourage them to examine their beliefs more rationally
First of all, allow me to say that it is truly sad that American society in this day and age must turn to religion to solve its problems, and it is even sadder that you encourage and embrace this return to primitiveness.
Theistic metaphysics are a HUGE stretch, being based on a super-natural entity. There is no reliable evidence to back the belief in such drivel. Of course, most people believe in this super-natural entity because they need psychological comfort for their insecurities in life, wish to live forever because they live in fear of annihilation of the self, or some other irrrational reason that hardly serves as justification for claims of objective knowledge.
Furthermore, if one were to derive any value from religion, it would probably be at the ethical level. However, it sickens me to the bottom of my stomach to hear this term, "values", constantly being used in conjunction, nay, in unison, with religion. To put it simply: bullshit. Religion, and any sort of dogmatic philsophy, whether it be based on a supernatural entity or not, is anathema to the rational man.
What "values" does religion offer to the average man I ask you? Is it blind obediance to an invisible super natural entity created by groups of people for the purpose of social control, who has deemed, through fundamentalists mouth-pieces, that certain things are sins and others not. If anything, blind adherence to a religious philosophy completely dumbs people down. They cease to think rationally, and can be found mindlessly parroting verses of this or that religious text to justify certain points or actions.
The answer is not a return to primitive systems that are 5000 years old and that are completely dated in today's society. One must always examine society's problems through a rational lense, and work out a solution accordingly.
