Now that I'm a little more sane, I guess I can address the night more clearly! Overall, great night, amazing vibe and good times all around!
After a disaster trying to get into 1234 during New Years itself (round midnight), we finally headed up to Red Lite round 3ish after some intense drinkage. Having no clue where we were going, we stopped on st-martin at a gas station where the workers were PLASTERED and dancing with us to some beats from the car. Asked for directions, then were on our way. Definitely a good start
Red Lite is HUGE from outside. The parking lot was full (or they weren't allowing any more people in) so we parked down the street. More drinkage ensued . I made sure to stay clear of the quarry (even though I didn't see it) just for precautionary measures .
Anyways, got in round 3:30-4? I have no idea, everything was kind of a blur and once we distanced ourselves from the hip hop room and started hearing the beats everything started coming alive! Set up shop in the middle of the house room and started rippin it up!
Took me a while to realize that the baldy guy next to the DJ booth was NOT the DJ, but the lights guy. So I kept saying to myself 'I guess Armin's not coming.' Oops . So stupid. Armin was right next to him.
Walked around RedLite to see what it was like, definitely impressed. There's a different room at every corner, the bathrooms are fricken nasty but big and the decor was chill. It's too bad the DJ booth is so high, but what can you do. Lot of sketchies in the massage room with the couches but that's to be expected.
Anyhow, Armin was bang on. If you're asking for a tracklist forget it, blame it on the alcohol. He played a bit harder than at Swirl which was nice, less fluffy trance. Recognized a lot of songs from his end of year double CD mix. Kept waiting for Mike Foyle ft. Signalrunners - Love Theme Dusk, but it never came. Dommage. He DID finish with Gabriel & Dresden-Tracking Treasure Down, which was dope. Props to DK Man for the sign.
Ran into a lot of TAs for the first time which was cool! I recognized fayraree cuz he was a sweaty mess with his white towel rippin it up (I keed). I chilled with Lisa-Loo, Shanny and serapiglia (spelling?) for a fair bit right in front of the booth after my friends went missing (idiots!). Good times guys (and girl), Shanny seems I see you every time Armin plays in MTL, you're hardcore! I think I also met PartEgurl, a TA from NY who's name escapes me and another girl TA that recognized the cast on my arm from Ottawa/TO maybe (sorry missed your name!). Also chilled with what it seemed like the only locals besides me, Charlie and Malek (thanks for all the pics). I'm kind of afraid how those pics are gonna come out considering my drunken state
Ok, this is way too long. In closing, I bounced at 7:30 when he finished and was caput. Home to bed after definitely one of the most memorable NYEs in a longggg time! Props to redlite.
