Junos + Shazam + Beatport

I love this soo much. Feels soo good that I can ID tracks soo easily now. Don't need to spend a month begging people to ID a video I took at a club. Also, I think it will help producers get more coin which they certainly should.
Sharing is Caring gents.

yep it has become and will become easier to ID tracks wherever u are, even in the club! Unreleased tracks and vinyl only music wont show up though, a perc of playing only vinyl that hasn't been released digitally- no one can shazam your tunes. Although it isn't always 100% accurate, I see shazam eventually indexing most or pretty much all music that has been tagged digitally and it wont have a problem doing so being backed by Carlo$ $lim.

No that's the thing, all the Juno records sample catalog will be added so people will be able to shazam vinyl only releases too. Whatever, I think some are making too big a deal out of this. It's not like most people who ID a vinyl only track are going to go out and buy the record or anything. I never saw the need to hide what tracks I play, it's stupid to have that attitude.

not all music, whether it be vinyl or digital is exclusive to beatport/juno but it would be pretty amazing to have all music catalogued into 1 place instead of having to look around different sites for particular tracks, it would make everything simpler. Its really convenient to be able to ID a track anywhere instantly, personally I am for this and don't see why others wouldn't be either.

Phones don't suck that much at clubs as long as you close your flash. No flash, no biggie... The dj and people the crowed don't even know that you're filming stuff. It's fun sometimes to have a few minutes of recorded video as a memory of the night .

People raising their iphone in the air shazaming a tune look like idiots on the dancefloor. That being said, i always thought it was ridiculous for DJs to try to keep good tracks secret. If the music is good why not share it so that more people can listen to it? Keeping a rare track for yourself hoping that other DJs won't play it is selfish imo. I can understand they don't want it to go "mainstream" but regardless I think DJs should share the knowledge.

yet to see people annoyingly shazmin tunes @ the club/bar, but one could very easily and discreetly ID a tune and put their phone back in their pocket.

It's funny how DJ's originally existed to play and expose music on the radio, then in the clubs they turned to trying hide any information about them to increase their own value as a DJ. I agree that you can Shazam discreetly. I remember after they teamed up with Beatport, results were seriously inaccurate. I'd get 5 different ID's for the same track. I hope they've tuned it up a bit, I haven't been using it as much lately.

While they take up prime dance floor real estate, and annoy those who actually want to dance, have fun, and live in the moment. Not to mention how intrusive it is for those that would rather not worry about being filmed so that they can really let loose. It is no secret that clubs with a strict no phone/camera policy are always the best.

Save the filming for your barmiztvah.

lol.

i think there's a direct correlation between the change of the vibe in a afterhours and the emergence of cell phones in the afterhours. the vibe went to shit once cell phones became prevalent.
