This is not right, in fact, I will call it BS!

here goes:

a little while ago I see a "new" thread about the Cell Injection party, with no feedback (then).

seeing that on the USA--> NY page, made me smile, and I was thinking gotcha!, cause our moderator was the one who overlooked that this event had been posted already weeks ago (knew, cause I'd seen it, maybe even posted, don't recall)

But then, I just looked at the post, and saw the comments there.

And that is what can only be called bullshit.

quote:
"but they did not have all the event details in the first post and the thread title was also incomplete."

SO WHAT?
that happens all the time, especially when an event is posted when it's deets aren't fully know.
That's exactly what comments can be used for, to provide further information as it becomes available.
Myself, I've changed the title on more than one occassion after that happened, and I'm sure that could've been arranged...

And what does "all the details" mean, anyway?

Time, venue, line-up, that really all that's needed, and a link or two for more info, which will surely be on RA anyway.
(how many people here really care for the bottle service portions, you don't see too many comments that beg for that, lol)

But, more serious, since when is that grounds for interfering, or whatever, in a proper post by a member?
Certainly not the rules, as they are posted for this website.

But it gets worse, quote:
"Aside from that I have an agreement with Sankey's to be the official poster of all Sankeys related threads on TA."

SO?
What does that have to do with US?
Your agreement doesn't bind anyone here to it, nor TA for that matter.
We don't work for Sankey's, and they can't impose their rules on us.
And neither can YOU!

Or at the very least neither should you be allowed to make up rules that don't exist in the first place, and then use your ability as a moderator to do as you please.

This is not a commercial website, and if you just go and do it like this, it really looks like a conflict between being a moderator who is supposedly enforcing the site's rules (which don't include any of this), and being a promoter trying to manage the listings.

This is very disappointing, and I hope it doesn't happen like this again.

Listings are first come first serve, and you have pointed out many times that the one doing a double will get banned if they keep doing it. So, the second poster is the one breaking the rules, and if it's not a problem when the one enforcing the rules is the one breaking them, I don't know what is...

One more thing:

the information of the original post came from Gigatools if I remember correctly.
That is an official artist's calendar.
if they chose to make an event public long before the venue does, then by all means it should be posted here by whoever, and if the venue doesn't like being pre-empted, they can put the info out there sooner too (just like Drumcell did....)

Simple.
Even IF there is nothing official, just a rumor, or a hint hint, it's proper to be posted on the events thread, after all that is what its for, alerting people to upcoming possible events, to help us manage schedule better.

peace

by second poster I mean the one who now appears as the thread's originator, and that isn't you.
(didn't know you had put up a "third" one)

FYI... if ANY promoter of an event contacts us to edit the first post with complete info the first post is missing we do it and we have done so in the past for insomniac, made event, area event, and others. It makes no difference if it was Sankeys or someone else.

He was still the thread creator until he deleted his thread and then I created a new one. I saw the thread, I knew it was there but I always create a new thread and merge for the sake of using the RSVP guestlist option given to promoters when creating a new thread. If you simply make a post in a thread you are not given this option.

Had he just contacted me rather than delete the thread I am sure we could have come to some mutual resolution however now that the thread is deleted I cannot restore it.

When you click on a thread you always see the first post. If the first post doesn't have the name of the promoter/organizer, complete line up etc., flyer and other important information relevant to the event why wouldn't I add that as a moderator if I'm aware of it?

Anyway... I do not get paid to moderate here, I keep this forum clean and try to keep it updated out of the kindness of my own heart. I could really do without the drama especially since you weren't even involved in what happened and it seems like you are just trying to start something. You couldn't have pm'ed me to express your opinion? You pm me all the time for other things....

Again I never took the thread out of his name. The only reason its in my name now is because I created a new one. I don't have time to argue about this so I am just going to leave it at that.

From what I know - event promoters and venues have always held the right to claim a thread for one of their own events. For an event organizer it is important to be able to provide accurate information and update lineups / times as needed on the primary post and title. I've done this myself in the past so I don't think there's any special treatment going on since Zaneta is acting on behalf of the venue.

Personally I think there is still a fair balance since all prior comments / responses are still merged into the new thread so everything is retained (regardless of it being positive or negative).

Just my 2c

event promoters and venues owns threads now? i was under assumption this was a online discussion forum where one could talk about music.

i still think its absurd to delete's ones comments and replace it with your ticket purchase links. it seems like thats the most important thing nowadays. there was enough informtion on the original thread as far as i know. i did say where it was and date of the party. when you make a thread, it doesnt say that you have to include ticket links. in fact this party had no ticket links originally because of all that unnecessary endless/sankeys ticket sales codes.

i have made numerous threads about many parties on this bulletin board before. but none of them was deleted then replace with other people's comments before.

im not trying to start an argument over here but i feel like its not right for someone to be a moderator and a huge promoter on the same bulletin board, there i said it.

no more event making threads from me, i will leave that to official posters on this forum

it sounds a little ridiculous to have an "exclusive agreement" with a club to post on trance addict forum... is that even worth their time? did they have their lawyers draft contracts? lol

seems like a small conflict of interest - being a mod and a promoter

just my 2cents.

That's correct. Your friend can ask whoever he reports to at Sankeys about it and they will verify that. I'm not making this up. All other promoters were instructed to leave this board to me. I'm sure they can post in the comments but they want me creating the threads.

Mods on here are involved in other work. I'm not just a promoter. I'm involved in several aspects of the music scene. And what about djs who are also mods? Do you consider that a conflict too? How about club photographers because several of the other mods host their own events spin and are involved in the scene on some level. I've beeen on this board for a while and even as just an average member. Btw I wasn't assigned this position, I was nominated and elected by its members. The previous mods quit likely because its a thankless job and you guys complain about everything
