Question for you college TA's/grads

I've never actually held a job that I can put down on my college application. Do you think that this could really harm my chances of getting into a a good school? I was thinking what does work experience really have to do with college? Help...anyone?

Colleges look mostly at ur SAT, GPA, and what school-affiliated extra cirricular activities you participate in. Job experience would probably be looked at a distraction from studies but a symbol of independance. I wouldnt worry about it, just study hard, that'll account for the majority of your college applications!

grades and test scores are most important. some schools value different things. generally they look at extracirriculars and things that show good time management when you are borderline. some schools require that you do things outside of academics, but it doesnt have to be a job. i'd be more worried if you graduate college never having had an internship.

maybe if youre applying for grad school that would matter but undergrad shouldnt matter. i dont even think i was asked about that when i went through all the applications.
