Washington DC trip 4/08-4/10

I am going to Washington DC from this Wednesday to Friday(08th - 10th) with my GF. I have not been there in 10-15 years.

Can someone from the area recommend some sites and maybe a nice steakhouse restaurant as well that would be worthwhile going to.

Sites I know of:
Washington monument, Smithsonian, holocaust museum, Lincoln memorial, treasury building. I do not have tix for the white house so no big deal about missing that.

Steakhouses I know of:
http://www.10best.com/Washington,DC...ts/Steakhouses/
If anyone not on the list you feel is just as good or better that would be great.

Thanks for any info

Ray's the Steaks
It's in Arlington, VA but it's really a short trip (right by the Courthouse Metro stop on the Orange Line, which is only 2 stops out of DC, also free parking across the street in a parking lot after 8PM I think).

Much better than any other steak place in the area, especially when you consider the price.
But besides the super cheap price, the steaks are amazing and the sides are great (unlimited creamed spinach and mashed potatoes).

Also, they just moved to a new larger location that actually accepts reservations (unlike the last one) and seats way more people so you have a much better time of getting in satisfactorily.

Other than that, only other place I would recommend is District Chophouse by the Verizon Center.
I've heard good things about Charlie Palmers, but I've never been. Plus you have to dress up and wear a jacket and dress clothes, and who the hell wants to do that when they are eating a huge steak.

But trust me on Rays the Steaks.

was just there this weekend for the japanese cherry blossom festival. the blossoms should still be on the trees around the potomac basin through this coming weekend.

the white house tours can only be arranged through us congress members. you should check out the lincoln exhibit inside the library of congress -- supposed to have artifacts such as lincoln's possessions when he was shot. just make sure you don't go on sundays . the us capitol now has a new visitors' center -- it's on the east side of the capitol below ground. jefferson memorial is worth going to also. the view of the rest of DC from there is phenomenal.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks for the info. Def checkout these cherry blossoms.

I'm leaving tonight and staying with GF cousin in NJ near 95 so we don't waste too much time in the morning with rush hour out of LI getting to DC.
