MLS: Gascoigne set for US move

It's official, anoter legend will play his football in the incresingly popular MLS, here's the article from BBC:

Gascoigne set for US move

Gascoigne is available on a free transfer

Paul Gascoigne has agreed a deal to join American Major League Soccer side DC United.
Gascoigne's agent Ian Elliot told BBC Five Live that the former England international would join the Washington side.

He said: "A deal is on and we fly to DC tomorrow."

Elliot said Gascoigne would train with the side three times and watch them play before making up his mind on the move next Wednesday.

"He will train with them on Friday, watch them on Saturday and train again on Monday and Tuesday before making a decision on Wednesday.

"He's always wanted to play in the States and it's a standard of football he will be comfortable in," Elliot said.

The 35-year-old had been targeted by the coach of DC United, Ray Hudson, when he was in charge of the now defunct Miami Fusion.

Gazza set to jump ship
Gascoigne was available on a free transfer after leaving English Division One side Burnley who he joined from Everton at the end of last season.

Elliot said Gascoigne would need a couple of weeks of training to get match-fit and was hoping to play in the six or seven games of the season and from the start of the 2003 season.

Gazza is a prime example of what's wrong with stuff these days, he's got all the talent in the world, but he's always messed up somehow, he used to come out with 'It won't happen again' all the time and then 2 weeks later it would, he's a wasted talent and although he had some good times with England, I'm always gonna remember him as the guy who had an attitude problem.

Early on in his career (1991) I saw one of my first games on tv, FA cup final between Nottm Forest & Spurs and in the 8th minute, gazza just about snapped the other guys leg in half, and should've been sent off but ended up getting injured doing so, his actions were discraceful and he never redeemed himself at all, left one guy with a broken leg, and he cried (as was his normal thing) when he should've been off in discrace.

I just hope some of our newer talents (Joe Cole, Owen Hargreaves etc) use him as an example of what not to do

Can’t argue much with you on the “our new talents” part but just remember this punk is a Canadian talent that decided to play for a country that he never set his foot in

I just want to say regardless of the fact if Owen H becomes an alcohol addict or whatnot I’LL BREAK HIS FUCKING LEGS AND I’LL RIP HIS FUCKING HEART OUT OF HIS CHEST AND FEED IT TO HIM SLOWLY IF HE EVER SETS HIS DIRTY FOOT IN TORONTO

FUCKING SUCCER SLUT, BURN IN HELL WHOREGREAVES!!!!!

FUCKING SUCCER SLUT, BURN IN HELL WHOREGREAVES!!!!!

His parents are english though, His dad even played for my team Bolton & is a lifetime fan, Owen is also a fan, and I think that alone is enough to let him choose, and to say this without being flamed, but football is more of a way of life in England than Canada, and he has chance to be in a better team with all due respect to canada, football isn't your priority sport, Myself holding dual nationalities, I could play cricket for England or Australia (not that I'm good enough ) but in the way the worlds going, it'll end up somethign stupid like countries signing players to play for them
