My Puerto Rico- Tiesto Party Report
I just returned from my Puerto Rico Tiesto trip, and although it was short, it was quite memorable. I got there friday around noon, and arrived to some absolutely beautiful carribean weather. Now we knew where tiesto was going to be spinning at on saturday nite, but my friend had heard that friday nite was a special inivitation only event, in which Tiesto would be a judge for a local PR DJ competition, in which the winner would open for him on saturday nite. I was pretty bummed out thinking that there would be no chance we would be able to get that in nite, but as fate would have it we ran into Ivan Robles, a prominent PR trance dj, who happened to have his studio right around the corner from where i was staying, and he told us where and when the event would take place, as it was quite on the hush-hush. It was taking place at about 9pm at a Restaurant Lounge place called Dali, i think, in old san juan. It was a really relaxed and intimate setting, four djs competed, and Dj Vik, i would say a prog-house style dj won the show. I actually got to meet Tiesto and exchanged a few words with him, and got a photo, i almost DIED! He seemed really nice and looked to be enjoying himself, and looked in great health, in comparison since the last time i saw him. He wasnt even supposed to spin, but at about 1.30 he got up and got on the decks for about an hour, which really capped off the nite, defintley a stellar prelude for saturdays big THIRST event. AND saturday nite was MASSIVE. It took place at this place called the Pier 10 arena, which had a pretty big main room a few smaller ones, and every room had a different type of music playin. We had heard that tiesto was supposed to come on at about 12-1, but he didnt hit the wheels till about 3!, the anticipation was killin me! But boy he was worth the wait, let me tell he spinned a close to three hour set, and i must say more than half the tracks he spinned I never heard before, and i listen to alot of trance. I must of called my brother Ryan, rounder19, a million times during the set saying this is the hottest Track, this track is so phat! AND he ended his set with good ole' Traffic, a strange way to end his set, but that place went buck wild. Tiesto, in turn, was flashing that infamous smile and going buck wild himself, awesome! In conclusion, he dropped some bombs my fellow ta's and you will all be in for quite a surprise in two weeks at ultra fest and magic muzik nite. I go to alot of shows and see a lot of great djs lately, but for some reason no one brings the energy and makes me jump higher than tiesto, he's still the man, no. 1 or not. Two weeks to ULTRA, see u all there!!!!
