Angry Ultra: VIP Rip-Off

Well, I must say Ultra was incredible other than the fact that I got ripped off with a $200 ticket that got me absolutely fuckin nothing, it was almost enough to ruin the whole experience because I was pissed the fuck off cuz I drained my checking account for "VIP" and have nothing to show for it

I was only allowed behind the main amphitheatre stage, not backstage mind you, but BEHIND IT where there was absolutely nothing but the back of a stage and cargo... what's the point in that??

I was kicked off or not allowed on any backstage areas, told that VIP is not allowed here... I asked a large number of the employees "then where am I allowed? where do VIP ticketholders get to go?" NONE OF THEM KNEW, the only people allowed to do any damn thing where ones with "artist" wristbands which I have no idea what that is but I know I didn't pay $200 to do the same thing some guy next to me is doing for $55. Also I asked about the supposed t-shirt and gifts I was supposed to get, they told me I had to buy them from a stand and that I don't get any for free.

Am I the only one who got fucked out of $150?

This is what is on the large poster/flyer for Ultra and was also worded exactly the same at groovetickets.com where I bought the ticket, I got none of this:

"ULTRA VIP ticket holders will receive:
-Access to Multiple VIP AREAS situated throughout the festival grounds. Each one featuring a unique atmosphere with various views of many music arenas including the Main Stages. Get up close and personal with your favorite artists, promotors, record executives and party people from around the globe. Explore all of the VIP areas and discover a whole new side of the ULTRA EXPERIENCE
-Express entrance into the festival through the VIP gate
-ULTRA t-shirts, misc gifts and souvenirs"

damn, it's sad to hear things like that. So what if it was somewhat rather unorganized I would have been pissed off too if I payed for vip and didn't get access.

I spent most of the time at Ultra thinking "is my camera still going to be in the bag I left hanging on the fence at the entrance"

what pissed me off was the fact that I saw a LOT of cameras inside, so why did the MORONS(if I had a list of names I'd post each one) tell me, no bags and no cameras.

still, I'm happy nothing bad happenned, I still have the camera, I enjoyed the venues, and I got to see UNDERWORLD

there's always next year /me raises pinly to lip "rrrrrrright"

Heh, actually the VIPer's were not saposed to be allowed behind that Main Stage, only Media, and All Access, and Artests only - The Bayfront Park security were idiots, so you should actually be happy that you got to go back there - I know I was. (By the end of the night they figured this out, and didn't allow any more VIPer's back there)...And of course they wouldn't let you back stage...You know how much maddness it would be it they just let everyone with a VIP wristband inside the Main Stage? The only people allowed to go backstage were artests, and people that were "all access" and those were the people that were either setting up shit and working for the event, or just lucky people that got a "all access" wristband like I did last year by accident hehe. I don't know why you would wanna go in there anyways heh, I got to last year, and all it is a bunch of people running around working and setting up shit, I kinda felt out of place there heh.

But did you not see the VIP area in the Main Stage? There were big sings that said "VIP" so I don't know how you coulda missed it...It was pretty big area too (a lot bigger then last year) But the only thing about that was bad, is that you had to be 21+ to enter the VIP area's on the Main Stage - Something that they didn't say on the flyer - So a whole bunch of people that bought VIP for $200 couldn't get into the VIP area since they were under 21. I thought that sucked, and I would of been so mad if I spent 200 bucks and wasn't allowed in the VIP area heh (Thank god I'm 21=) But the coolest thing about it was all the free fruit, yum yum hehe.

About the t-shirts and gifts thing, I guess those were given out at the gate when you picked up your VIP tickets, but that didn't get organized untill later on, because I did see people chillin in the VIP area that just got there and they had a whole bunch of goodies heh. That didn't get me that upset at all, I was just like "oh well, I missed it"

So no, I don't feel like I was ripped off, and I had a blast being VIP. (Especality when all that bullshit with the main stage happend, and they weren't letting anyone in, but I got to go in and out as I pleased since I was VIP)

Do I think that the tickets are worth 200 bucks...hmmm now that's a tough one. But considering the fact that there is never gonna be a party there again, and I didn't have any problems or anything, and got treated well - it was worth it for me

But I'm sorry that you didn't have a good time, and felt like you wasted money and got ripped off...I would hate to feel like that after an event such as good as Ultra

But hopfully you'll go next year and have a blast!!

werd!!

still, I wouldn't pay VIP @ Ultra(ok, I might, but only if they have good liquor and babes )

the babes you can find on the beach, for free, alcohol, it's cheap(on the beach(not in clubs or ultra) thus, no need to spend the excesive $$$$

I know of a handful of people who felt that they got ripped off last year paying all that extra money for VIP. they tried endlessly to contact someone and wrote many letters complaining about paying $200 for something that they could've got for $40.

I know right, I heard backpacks were allowed so we parked a nice number away and I got up to the line and was informed that they're not... so all my friends continue and go straight to Icey, I go back to the car (I wasn't informed I could leave it at the gate), drop off my backpack and bring my camera and cell phone. this time i'm informed no cameras so I have to go back again and by the time I get back to the line, Icey is over. That pissed me off too when I saw all the people with cameras

Rabbit In The Moon was incredible I've always wanted to see them but haven't before and since catching one of their performances is rare these days it made it even more memorable. So I still had a good time when I'd force myself to try and forget it just have a good time but I gotta say the highpoint of my trip was the night before = PVD @ Space34 the music that night was an ear orgasm!

VIP

Fredz21,

Have you seen any pics from Ultra 3? In the VIP, backstage, behind the amphetheatre (whatever you wanna call it) they had HUSTLER chicks, and lots of liquor. I remember it like it was yesterday.
They had a big trailer mobile home with HUSTLER on the side. I saw a a guy and a chicj in HUSTLER shirt and shorts go inside....saw the home rockin...came out 20 min later! It was crazy! I wonder what went on in there?

Ultra 3 VIP was the best. Ultra 4, they learned their lesson and changed how they gave out stuff. Ultra 5 they really were strict on everything. I had a production wrist band, which meant we were working at Ultra, and they wouldn't give me somethign to drink?!?

What can ya do? Next time, think really hard if you wanna spend so much in VIP, it might not be worth it.

Well that's good that you got to see them and enjoyed it - I only caught them for like 10 minutes, but I've seen them a few times before, so it's all good. About the backpack thing...I don't know why everyone says that they were originaly allowed...it says right on the flyer guys...no backpacks heh. The camara thing is stupid though, no excuses for that. And yes I agree about PvD @ Space - it would of been worth the trip just for that hehe

if they didnt let you in with a camera, well, just reason with them. Bags for sure not allowed, video cams not, cameras yes. if they say otherwise, show them the flyer.

too late now, but hey, I broke my camera @ PvD and it looks like repairs will be around $800

if i were you i would have felt cheapened by a $200 vip ticket that got you nowhere. and yea man i saw lots of people with bags cameras and even camcorders! and upstairs by mainstage 1 they had that bud light "vip" thing.. so i was talking to the guy who would let you in or not and i go.. so is there free beer? he goes i dont know but we ran out they bringing back some more in 20 mins.. and i go so how do i get vip for the budlight? he goes nah i dont know either but my boy is selling them for 10 bux each.. im like straight! (cuz im thinking it has to be free beer) so i said ok i'll be back later to check it out.. but by then i wasted all my money and said screw it.
and yea there were lots of tents on the left side of mainstage 1 that said "VIP" with like yellow tents.
