Hello! writing a research paper , need some help from german citizens

ok, im doing my research paper on pvd. In the beginning of my paper im writing about how he grew up to the oppressed side of east germany(ddr). Im curious if anyone here maybe grew up in east germany and were there when the wall fell. IF so could u give me so personal experience on what that was like and maybe tell me a little about the culture before the wall fell. THnaks a lot to anyone who responds. IF your response is good i plan to use some as quotes in my paper.

mmh, i think I can help you
I grew up in the former gdr (democratic ? )

I was 14 years old when "the wall" falls down.
There already are some shadow hanging over my memories but when U have specific questions I will answer as best as I can.

this could help a lot:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GDR

you can also look for: "ostalgie", "stasi", "volkspolizei" in the wikipedia, this will give you a general impression how life and culture were in the DDR

interview quote:

quote:
How did growing up in communist East Berlin shape your personality? Having so many restrictions... How did it shape you positively and negatively?

Even a little chocolate bar was something very special where I grew up. So I appreciate small things still very much and I don't take things for granted. I think this has something to do with the life I am living now. And negatively.... I have some problems with communistic thoughts. I am pretty liberal and sort of all those things. No way in the whole world would I support communism. I am a capitalist. With my employees, as an example, I am always really fair, really easy going like this.

you can find many interviews with pvd where he states something about his life in the former GDR, but most of us are too young (doesnt matter if born east or west) to tell you something about the spirit in the GDR or the western view towards it...

thanks a lot .My research paper is about him and the success of his career. I have to answer a question in the paper, kinda. The paper is just trying to show how he became the number 1 dj and what he has done for trance music.
