Seems like we're in for another mothersucking summer so it will be mega hot and dehydration will abound.
Bring plenty of sun block with you ( it costs an arm and a leg here ).
Bottled water is mega cheap here ( 30 cents for a bottle of a liter and a half ) so no problem there either

Otherwise what you're asking for is pretty vague .... anything more specific you would like to know?


Concerning places to stay not sure how organized you are.
I'm assuming you will want to keep costs low there.
You have the choice between the affiliated hostelling international locations http://www.hihostels.com/ . They require you to be a member ( 28 bucks).
And there's also the backpackers hostels which are non affiliated and might be a little cheaper.

There's really so much to say on the subject.



Lastly you could consider the whole Eurail pass thing if you will be constantly moving around otherwise don't do it it's just not worth it. And keep in mind you CANNOT buy these things while in Europe ( I realize that makes absolutely no sense but that's the way things are ).
Air travel inside Europe can also be very cheap depending where you're going.

There are a lot more out there but these are the most common. Keep in mind that they tend to fly to and from funky locations ( really outside of major cities not using the most common airports ) so getting to the airports is a little trickier.
But if you're well organized you can pull it off quite well without any hassles.

I´m currently in Berlin and I´ve met recently some californian guys who are travelling around Europe for a month. They made Spain, south of France, Amsterdam, Brussels and Berlin, but trust me, don´t do a Europe trip just to say you made a Europe trip like these morons, don´t be drunk at the hostel bar, don´t try to chase after girls in Berlin (they are beautiful but drunk).

So, don´t visit a lot of countries or you´ll be bored to travel. A month is really a long time when you lose your habits... Except if you visit deeply a small number of countries and cities, because you can really feel the ambiance of the cities.
Berlin is defently the place to go for this kind of trip, the clubs are really awesome, the city is dynamic and the people here are the most open-minded I´ve ever seen. And the life here is more than cheap (2 euros a 30 centimeters pizza).
