Eq/Compressing Trance Leads and Pads/Strings

Could anyone possibly help out with any typical settings for either equing or compressing leads and string pads so that they aren’t fightning each other in a mix. I need my lead saw to be upfront and my strings/pads wide in the back. My pads are usually chords so they occupy both high n mid frequencies whereas my lead melodies are predominantly on the high frequencies but are also mostly supported by arpeggios that also occupy lower frequencies as well that give it that ‘phatness’. At this point I have issues as I have to compromise one for the other. Is there any ways around this? Any help is much appreciated.

There is no preset setting, bro...you have to use your ears. Try using Inspector or another spectrum analyzer and by looking at the spectrum, you can see which frequencies are overlapping in them mix and you can EQ them so they don't fight each other.

I hate that answer...
It's true that there is no magic but guys com'on try to really help.
From expirienece this helps only the newbes (unless he is one) and saying that won't just do anything for someone who've been producing for a year, just be more spesfic dude.
Here is a mixing tip:
Cut below 90hz whatever isn't a bassline or whatever shouldn't get a sub.
It will give more space to the bass and those low arps.
Try to just reduce (-2 db) the 100hz in those arps.
Every supersaw should get more mid-high (1 db).
To mix the levels play everything at once and pick an element.
Take the element's volume down to 0% and then slowly increase it.
Use a db meter to see what is the db of the element.
Just increase until you figure out that this is what you want and this is what fits.
Don't reduce the volume again after that if you considered to change it. Do the same again.
NEVER EVER EVER Compress: a master channel, bass+kick, supersaw pad with supersaw lead (ouch), leads in general.

Give me a sample and I'll see what I can do.

It is.
But it doesn't help it all to understand what should you do to mix.
Mixing is one of the most unsupported things here.
Pepole should try to help more or even mix eachother tracks.
We can learn a lot from each other.

Heh, well it depents on a lot of things to get it right. It can give some nice drive to your track when used properly.

Hmm. Well I was actually working on a track just a moment ago... Wait and I'll post a clip. Though remember, it's not fully finished.

EDIT: Clip

woot cool track.
add sines with delay to fill it up.
you are sidechaining here.
no idea why u do your sidechaining that way but have fun :P
I mean't like you don't sidechain and compress the kick with the bass.
it will muffle everything up

Nah, I'm just evening out somes spikes on the kick/bass channel. Not a heavy compression at all. Yeah the track needs some filling... Don't know about the sines though.
